So Lily Allen is fast emerging on the UK music scene, and her music is really good...well, i think so anyway. I love her style from what i've seen so far, the way she mixes cheapish looking ghetto gold with pretty tea dresses etc. Here is a pic from her myspace. normally there are more on there but its under construction at the mo.
ok so apparently theres a pic of lily allen in the new yorker, altho i havent seen it. also, seeing as there's no pics of her anywhere i thought id post a couple of youtube links that kind of show her style off...
I have never heard of her.
She didnt release a song in the netherlands
I like that song smile
she hasn't actually released any music yet, even in the uk. her songs smile and LDN have recently started being played on the music channels and on the radio, but i dont think the album comes out till july. she's just become really popular through myspace. i love that song smile too.
Lily Allen (daughter of cult comedian Keith) is a 21yr old singer/songwriter who is about to soundtrack this summer, fusing pop, hip-hop and dancehall into an uplifting, breezy and eclectic concoction that never ceases to amuse and endear the listener. Having worked with renowned producer Mark Ronson amongst others, Lily looks set to be the next breakthrough UK female artist.
With her debut album 'Alright, Still', Lily is at times blissfully carefree and tongue-in-cheek celebratory ('LDN', 'Alfie') and at times ferociously playful and lyrically petulant ('Not Big', 'Knock Em Out'). Album highlights include the love-split anthem 'Smile', the infectious ska-funk of 'Friday Night' and the ironic dance floor grooves of 'Everything's Just Wonderful'.
With many of her popular MySpace demos making the final cut, this album is already an instant fan favourite, whilst adding many new songs to the fray puts straight anyone in doubt that Lily is an up-and-coming talent to be reckoned with. 'Alright, Still' is a mighty challenge to Nelly Furtado for the title of 'Best Pop Album of 2006'.
Does anyone listen to Lily Allen? She has had quite a following on myspace for a while and is apparently going to be huge in the mainstream too.
Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around
yeah susie, I first heard of her through your blog and I agree, she's great. And all the radio stations are really pushing her but ldn is GREAT It makes me think of London in the summer which is just unbeatable
