She looks a lot better than the blonde woman stud next to her who I assume is actually younger than Madonna. I think the celebrity world has distorted our views a lot but I don't know any 'normal' 52 year old woman who looks better than Madonna so she's doing something right.
From a fashion perspective she is very hit and miss anyway when it comes to public appearances but when it comes to her videos and stage shows she is usually very fashion forward.
I can't help but think that most of the critique that Madonna has these days is rooted in ageism and that's just wrong.
Ageism?? Well she's the one that is trying to look younger than she is.....Both in appearance and image -that crotch shot posted on the last page is laughable.
I know plenty of women her age that don't look old...I think it's ageist to assume that you have to dress like a teenager and have botox to avoid looking like a "normal" 52 year old woman.
She is truly truly grotesque.....almost monstrous.
I used to look up to her so much-in her prime I would never have guessed that she would cave into the pressures of society like so many tragic bores-she used to walk to the beat of her own drum and now she is the worst kind of follower.
She would have been so stunning if she aged naturally, I can just imagine it! In 5 years she will look like Jocelyn Wildenstein
Agreed. I think the main problem is that her face looks puffy. Her cheeks are incredibly big compared to the rest of her face. It looks like her features completely changed. Scary.

The point I was making is that just because she's 52 it doesn't mean she has to wear an 'age appropriate wardrobe' or stop being a sexual creature. It's kinda like how most people wince at the idea of older people being sexual but it's perfectly acceptable if your younger to present yourself in a sexual manner.
I remember seeing Julianne Moore in an Allure spread wearing a Herve Leger bathing suit that was more daring than Madonna's outfit in the crotch shot you were referring to (she looked amazing) but no one seems to have an issue with that because it's Julianne Moore. Same with Carine Rotfield, all I read are glowing comments about her outfits despite some of them being not 'age appropriate' and more power to her.
She's Madonna for godsake, she's always had a highly sexualized image and that isn't going to stop just because she's over 50. She has a great body for her age so why shouldn't she show it off if she wants to.
If it's not to your taste then that's cool but I think it's great that she's trying to fight against society's ideas of how a woman her age should act. Charlotte Rampling poses nude in her films and ad campaigns so why can't Madonna.
Just one more point about plastic surgery etc. You look at any of the women in the entertainment industry who have been around as long as Madonna they have all dabbled in it to varying extremes. It's kinda wrong to criticise Madonna for that then worship at the alters of people like Nicole Kidman. For better or worse icons, especially women, are expected to be superhuman and not age ( well in the U.S) so you can't blame her trying to remain youthful, it's necessary for her to stay competitive.
Besides I think if you polled most middle aged women the majority would indulge in it if money wasn't an issue. It's all about personal choice.
Interesting points.
I have also wondered about the reasons why more mature women are ridiculed for wearing overtly sexy outfits. I'm not a fan of this kind of style myself, regardless of age, but I sometimes wonder if people feel uncomfortable with it because they imagine that a more mature woman would (hopefully!) possess more confidence/dignity, therefore not feeling it is necessary to undress to impress.
Hope this makes sense!
It isn't exactly my own view or opinion, just a guess at what might inspire the snide comments.
I don't really think that people are opposed to seeing bare 50yr old flesh so much as they are somehow instinctively disturbed by the idea of a 'mother aged figure' flaunting around like a 20 yr old. So perhaps it is more of a mind thing than physical.
I would also be interested in how women of Madonna's actual age feel about it. Are the people judging her mostly very young? I would wonder why the image of a sexualized mature woman should bother anybody. Why should it?
And on the subject, I do know a handful of 50-somethings who do actually look damned great, and quite a bit prettier than Madonna. I don't really think that plastic surgery is the issue so much as the woman's self confidence, acceptance of her stage in life. And yes, most of Hollywood has succumbed to surgery, which makes it quite difficult to actually tell how natural aging would have affected them anyway. It is so difficult to judge - even with the much younger crowd!
Personally, my feelings are mixed, and depend upon the person in question. Sexy outfits and plastic surgery are no real issue to me, although when they become prerequisites for continuing your career I do feel that this is somewhat disturbing.
When someone i admire has work done, it actually saddens me initially, and i ask myself why. I guess it is because surgery has become the 'norm' for public figures, and a part of me still feels really intrigued by the idea of them having confidently remained as nature intended. Whether this is right or wrong, i have no idea!

Madonna To Open Second Hard Candy Fitness Center In Moscow
New York, NY - December 8, 2010 -- For Immediate Release - Madonna in partnership with her manager Guy Oseary and Mark Mastrov, Chairman of New Evolution Ventures (NeV), announced the opening of the second Hard Candy Fitness Center in Moscow which is projected to open in mid-March 2011.
The new facility will be a beautifully designed and unique 35,000 square foot space located near Red Square. Moscow’s Hard Candy Fitness will also include a partnership with Irina Razumova, founder of the well know Russian chain Planet Fitness. The news of the Moscow location comes on the heels of a successful grand opening for the brand’s premiere location last week in Mexico City, which featured a special dance class taught by Madonna.
“It’s especially exciting to have the second Hard Candy Fitness open in Moscow as I really enjoyed the city and the people when I visited during my ‘Sticky & Sweet Tour.’ Working in collaboration with the experts at NeV and Irina, I know that we will create the ideal workout environment in Moscow that represents my health and fitness philosophy as well as include innovative and inspiring programs,” commented Madonna.
Mastrov, his partner Jim Rowley of NeV, along with Madonna and Oseary are in the planning stages of opening 10 additional Hard Candy locations in Russia, Brazil, Argentina, Europe and Asia. They are currently exploring opportunities around the globe for facilities that will offer a unique member experience in all aspects including curriculum, environment and fashion.
Throughout her career, Madonna has been devoted to fitness and well being. Having worked out in hundreds of gyms around the world, she developed a strong vision on what the ideal exercise, dance and workout environment should look like. The vision took shape during an initial meeting between Mark Mastrov, the innovator behind some of the World’s best known Fitness Brands and Guy Oseary early in 2008. Mastrov has built a fitness empire of over 1100 clubs in over 20 countries. "Our goal is to create an environment around the world inspired by Madonna's vision and high standards. Hard Candy Fitness Centers will be a reflection of Madonna's point of view and will reveal her input on every detail including music, design and class curriculum. Madonna's touch will be everywhere," stated Mastrov.
The Moscow Hard Candy Fitness Center along with others in the planning stages will include proprietary Hard Candy Fitness programming inspired by Madonna and her dance team, a Bike Studio as well as a Mind Body Studio, featuring The Great Wall, where members can practice BarWorks, Sculpting, Capoeira and the newest trends in Yoga. It will also house a healthy alternative Juice Bar/Café and lavish locker rooms.
Members will benefit from state of the art cardiovascular equipment with personal viewing screens, more than 60 pieces of strength equipment/free weights and the best group fitness, functional training accessories using brands including Precor, Marpo Kinetics, Hoist, Free Motion, StarTrac and TRX suspension training. “We are so excited and honored to be able to open the Hard Candy Fitness brand here in Moscow. Madonna has been an inspiration for us all and we can’t wait to bring this beautiful facility to life,” said Irina Razumova, partner with Hard Candy Fitness and NeV.
