After looking at that shot above, I can't help but think "Good God, she really needs to get back together w/ Lori Goldstein."

Speakin'a whom, how much did I love this look from her Arsenio Hall appearance in the early 90's?

Nobody Knows Me/MDNA Tour
Used as the backdrop from her tour for the intermission. Directed by Tom Munro, I think something like this would've made for a fantastic music video, moreso than what M&M did with her. Very cool, if I do say so myself.

^^^That video reminds me how creative and spectacular she can be... I believe the director of that video is Johan Soderberg-- not Tom Munro, with graphic designs by M+M Paris. This is way too amazing to be anything by Tom. He directed the "Justify My Love" interlude, which, as pretty as it is, looks to be a complete rip-off of her brilliant "SEX/Erotica" phase/video.

Yeah, it would be great if Madonna bothered to put the efforts into her music and videos like she does with some of her tour interludes nowadays. Maybe if she stopped trying so desperately to be down with the kids and lowering her standards by performing with LMFAO and PSY for chart recognition, she may actually be bothered being an artist again. Maybe the next era will bring a renaissance of sort for her... In any case, good riddance this trend-chasing and image-recycling era is over-- with one of her most boring tour and music, it really was the epitome of-- in her own word: reductive. And please please please, no more filmmaking!

I just Wikipedia-ed Johan Soderberg. You are right, Phuel: he did create that video. Shame on me for not knowing better. I wasnt all that moved w/ Mr. Munro's Justify My Love clip (again, enough w/ the bra & panties), but the actual music (remix) was very well-done IMO.

I can totally understand her wanting to work with a "Grammy Award Nominated" group like LMFAO, and alo people like Nicki Minaj & Psy. I just think its a waste of time, and resources. I think if she really wanted to collaborate with who's hot, who's hip, who's happening, who's of the NOW, AND succeed at still being relevant, she could've went with somebody with a more mature style, like Adele..or Janelle Monae..or Emeli Sandé...and not a bunch of hoo-haa's that appeal to, you know, her teenage kids.

^^^Her recent/current collaborators-- in both music and design, has been a huge disappointment to me. A middle-aged icon chasing trends will only end up being a laughing stock. No matter how many young dancers, producers and... others, she surrounds herself with, she's still a middle-aged woman. And yeah, please please please stop taking musical and fashion influences from your kids! Stop shoehorning your children into your work. And, enough with the breakdancers already-- jeez... How about surrounding herself with the grace and elegance of such dancers like the ones she had during her Blond Ambition and Girlie Show era? Those contortionists, breakers and slackliners are so boring to watch. How about bringing back the power and sophistication of her Alvin Ailey and Pearl Lang influences? I don't want to see her "booty" get down... I want to see strong and graceful lines from her again.

Adele and Emeli's musical don't match too well with Madonna's for me, but Janelle-- now that would be interesting. Although, the soulful and sophisticated quiet, but quirky styles of these ladies remind me so much of her Bedtime Stories era-- which I adore... I loved the smoldering, sexiness and sophistication of Lori Goldstein's styling. Everything of that era was just quietly sexy and effortlessly cool: The Versace campaign to the collaboration with Massive Attack, resulting in her best ballad. It's funny how much more sophisticated she was then, compared to now.

I'm hoping she's got this whole midlife-crisis out of her system-- and realized that trying to appeal to kids is just not ever going to work-- artistically and commecially, and will concentrate on acting her age-- not her shoe-size, in the words of a formerly-wise man.

And speakin'a which, and since this is the FASHIONspot, does anybody remember hearing about top designers from Madonna first? I'm probably aging myself here, but I remember anytime she was on TV in the 90's, anytime the topic turned whom she was wearing, it was always somebody I had never heard about before. It was never Donna, or Ralph, or Calvin or that big guy w/ the ponytail and sunglasses from Europe. It was Gaultier & Dolce/Gabbana from her Truth or Dare movie..or Theyskens at that awards show..or Tom Ford at the VMA's..or Galliano/Givenchy at the Evita premier. Yeah, sure, these names were already known in the fashion industry and to those "in the know", but not to a teenage boy like myself, then. I miss that element of surprise as far as her fashions go--you NEVER knew what or whom she would wear next, and you were hardly disappointed.

^^^ I remember when I was little back in the 80s and would read my sister's magazines, one had this amazing editorial/feature on Madonna; I think it was a Japanese magazine that also had english text. I was instantly fascinated by her image-- and she had listed her favorite designers: Gaultier, Westwood, Comme, Bodymap, Stephen Sprouse... I still remember that moment reading those names-- all those years ago, and wanting to find out about these designers.... the woman was high fashion's muse-in-waiting. Od-school Madonna was everything.

The 90s were my formative years and being a teen growing up in the same neighborhood as Dean and Dan Caten-- which was sort of this upper middle-class area where you could be anything you wanted to be and you were supported and encouraged, so Madonna was someone you were fascinated by, but still be able to relate to; that combination of middle-class values and downtown boldness was very accessible to me. Now, I think she's either in out-of-touch wacko Michael Jackson territory-- or she's in denial of her lack of impact in pop culture so she repeats her past glories in an attempt to remind people of her relevance. She's so uninteresting now. But then I watch that "Nobody Knows Me" interlude and the MDNA "Like A Virgin performance, and I think she still has it in her to be provocative, political and stunningly stylish, like her former glorious self. Please, no more Tom Munro, Mert & Marcus, Giovanni Bianco, Arianne Phillips, Martin Solveig, and those horrible djs like Oakenfold, Tracy Young, Benny Benassi and the likes. I don't care what she does in her personal life-- who she dates, but on an artistic/professional level, her work has been on a definite downward spiral.

Madonna to present GLAAD award to Anderson Cooper

Madonna will appear with journalist, author and talk show host Anderson Cooper on March 16 at the 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York, presented nationally by Ketel One Vodka and Wells Fargo, GLAAD announced today. The Associated Press broke the story.
Cooper and Madonna are longtime friends who have both used their careers to raise support for LGBT people around the globe.
'Madonna has been a passionate spokesperson and longtime supporter of gay rights. She has embraced LGBT people around the world on many occasions,' said GLAAD President Herndon Graddick. 'From speaking out against bullying to raising support for marriage equality, Madonna has always been one of our community's strongest allies. We are honored to have her stand with GLAAD and Anderson Cooper.'
GLAAD will honor Cooper with the Vito Russo Award at the New York event. The Vito Russo Award is presented to an openly lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender media professional who has made a significant difference in promoting equality. Previous honorees include Ricky Martin, Rosie O'Donnell, and Elton John. The Award takes its name from legendary HIV/AIDS activist Vito Russo, who was also one of GLAAD's founders.
'By sharing his own experiences as a gay man, Anderson has reminded millions of Americans that LGBT people are part of their everyday lives and an integral part of our cultural fabric,' said GLAAD President Herndon Graddick. 'He continues to raise the bar and set a new standard for journalists everywhere, and I'm proud to call him a friend.'

I love her look here, she's definitely channelling Faye Dunaway in Bonnie and Clyde.
