- To all the stud-happy people on here, where did you purchase the studs and stud-punching thingy? I've had no luck in craft stores near me.

- What is the best kind of paint to use on wooden heels and leather shoes? I would like to dye a pair of nude-colored shoes; is this possible or should I just scrap the idea?

- How would I go about achieving this effect on jeans? Image is of JaneLovesMarc from her blog Sea of Shoes
well..it SAYS that it is a tye dye pair of jeans so i would research differnt ways of TYING and DYING...
OR.
you could just go get the jeans...
they are urban outfitters.....
how expensive could they be?...

but it's true...
you start with WHITE jeans to get that effect...
trying to bleach them out is not going to work...
it will be something else entirely....

isn't skinny and flair two different things?

...

i would not use anything with a flair leg, if that is what you mean...
boot cut or narrower works best...
and i would use a very sharp razor to make straight cuts..
a metal straight edge to cut against would also be good...
put something in the leg of the pants so you don't cut through to the back..
IE- thick cardboard or plastic

then throw in the washing machine to fray
no need for soap..just the agitation of the machine will cause fraying..

*CAUTION- each time you wash they will fray more...
so i would only wash that one time...
hand wash or air out from then on...

Did it!

I just finished them, theyre still wet. I cut them, dyed them and then hand washed them, actually my bf did that bc it was heavy work, i wanted him to trash them against the washboard haha Ill post the whole process on my blog. Oh and as gius said washing makes the cuts look like long used, i didnt need to do that by hand

if you do a runnnig stitch just close to the edges of the cuts
maybe they wont fray as much if you were to wash them again?
a lot of work though but yea..

i put some in the washing machine just now and it frayed
it is a twill (the threads go diagonal)
i know wovens should work
