i don't know if you knw of these sites but i love them:

www.gailknits.com
they are having a BIG SALE starting this saturday. they have the most beautiful yarns.

www.knitty.com
great patterns, great community. i think someone might have referred to them already but i'll refresh it, just in case.

"Now is the time people start knitting for winter." a quote from Gail of Gail Knits.

My latest project: French Market Tote
I had to knit another bag. You gals should try this one, it's really cute! I got the pattern from Knitty.com. It's a felted French Market Tote. I added a stripe to the pattern, and then I added a button in the middle so stuff wouldn't fall out. Made with Lamb's Pride Yarn in Charcoal Grey and Lotus Pink, with size 11 needlse. I also had to adjust the pattern a little bit, because it was getting too big. I plan to make another one for my mom.

Before:

and After I threw it into the washer (after this.. i sewed on a button, which is not in the picture):

to felt something, the easy way, do you just throw regular yarn (or does it have to be wool?) into the washing machine? i've always wanted to do this but wasn't exactly sure about it. i guess i could look at knitty..i like that site too, but maybe i don't spend enough time really looking it.

Aziandoll did the bag shrink much...and what heat was the washer on? I love it!
I never really thought of doing it with knitted wool...I always just thought that you did it by putting unspun yarn in at a high heat...our textiles teacher used to sew unspun wool inside little cotton squares and would put them in the washing machine.

to felt, you need wool or a predominantly wool blend. i think some other animal fibers might felt as well.
