I love it when someone compliments some piece of jewelry that I'm wearing and I get to say 'Thanks I made it.' I'm so lame...but it makes me feel like, hey, I did a good job on something! I did work and it turned out well! Yeah, I love making things. I've been making jewelry since I found colored paper clips and plastic beads in preschool and made earrings for my mom and her friends! They were like um. Thanks, it's pretty (...but i'm not putting that thing in my ear...).

I really want to dabble into making some jewelry other than bracelets.

I have some ideas for some earrings and I love earrings so I wanna try and see...could you get the earring hooks at a craft store like the Michaels or Joanne craft chains?

i ove using safety pins as fastening for bracelets instead of using the proper ones it quirky and cheap! i was thinin bout makin some earings out of them like when punks used to wear them in their ears but making it abit more fem by adding beads like strings of them!

just a brain wave! i have them every so often!

oh yeah but dont forget to blunt them down or you might end up with to many holes in your ears and we wouldnt want that would we!

Yes - Michaels carries all types of jewelrymaking items - including the fish hooks and kidney wires. Their stuff is base metal - not real gold or silver, but you'll be able to make some nice things. Joann's might have some jewelrymaking supplies, but I've found that they tend to be more fabric oriented (at least the ones here in my area of Florida.)

i'm making a necklace...'ll show you when i'm done....
it's inspired by all the chunky necklaces on the runways for spring...
ie...marc by marc, cacharel, marni, proenza schouler, etc...
and the gorgeous lanvin jewelry...

you are all so clever - I haven't ever tried to make jewellery - any simple things i could start with - maybe to make a necklace?

softgrey - I like the use of cord & organza ribbon & the twisting.

why not make a pompom necklace helena...
do you have some beads you could tie stuff onto?...
or twist some organza or tulle around...a la lanvin?...

it's fun...especially for spring...pretty much anything goes...
