WOW!! So much great stuff ladies! The earrings and necklaces are fabulous!
softie, as for the lead, I was talking to my dad and he said that soldering with silver is better but that requires a small torch like thing because it melts at a higher temperature...anyway, I need more knickknacks to break apart to make stuff because I've lost a lot of things I had when I was younger.

Jewelry Making
Okay, I want to start a new hobby for spring/summer 05 and as of now Jewelry making seems to be top on my list...I want to use metals (gold, little silver) and some stones.

Any suggestions on where to start (supplies, techniques, etc)? (I am a true beginner)

Thanks!

find a good store in your area that sells jewelry supplies, they usually have classes in these stores after the store is closed. It is a good way to get started on technique. I did that a few years ago, and my skill developed into a small business. It was lots of fun. Addictive really.

I cant figure out why I havent been to this thread before...I love making jewelry...
WHen I finally have the patience to figure out how to post a picture I'll post some of my mine. I'm lazy about that though.
love jewelry...and I really love the supply stores near the garment district.
I think FIT has a jewelry design program, I had wanted to take a silversmithing class there...but I wont be getting to that for now.
