I need a new sewing machine first... the one i tried to use is probably 100 years old. :p Its hard! I first made little pathetic bags..just for practice and stuff. Anyway, i'm OK at it, but i figured out that if i'm going to get any better i need a real machine, so i haven't done anything in a long time.

I LOVE SEWING.
it is my passion and i have been doing it since the 2nd grade.
i have recently started selling clothing to boutiques in my area.
i have done many a pattern in my day but my favorite thing to do is reconstructiing things especially making men's ties into bags, skirts, dresses, etc.

Ahoy, I'm new here and haven't read through all of this thread so I'm sorry if this has been answered, but is there anywhere I can get some patterns for like cardigans, sweatshirts, hoods and the likes, something simple to get me on my feet?
Thanks!

http://www.sewingpatterns.com has alot of brands of patterns that feature easy patterns for beginers.

Bruda has more european style clothes and a wider variety of mens patterns...
http://www.sewingpatterns.com/index-burda.html

Vogue has more dressy styles, their patterns are a bit more challenging
http://www.sewingpatterns.com/index-vogue.html

also check out fabric stores almost all sell patterns or have sewing/pattern making classes.

Making Clothes
I want to start making my own clothes and I need advice! I find it hard finding clothes that fit me and if I do find something I often have it altered to fit me. Over the years, the cost adds up and since I live in a place with much luxury fabrics, I thought why not try sewing. This is where you come in, if you have advice on how to sew please let me know. I'm looking to start with simple pieces such as tunics like the following!

Thanks!

O

I have taught myself to sew in the last year, and am gradually getting better, sewing stuff that is actually wearable now!! haha
So first I recommend you get a sewing machine!
And what about sewing lessons, unless you want to teach yourself!
The easiest things to make first are boobtubes and skirts without zips
