Vintage Playboy magazines

I love the 60's era Playboy covers & editorials. Just shows how stylish Playboy used to be and how much it's changed.

It used to be so sexy, what happened? Hmm, come to think of it the porn of those times was also sort of to die for. I guess either I'm (we're) pathologically nostalgic (for times when we weren't even around), or things have taken a gruesome turn for the worse aesthetically

you wonder why they never work with any modern, cool photographers like they did in the '60s...

i guess everyone involved just buys into the superficial hype they're created, which is really sad because it was very sensual and stylish at one point.

I know....And the 70s! Helmut Newton and Chris von Wangenheim most notably maybe...

I don't even know who shoots for them these days, can't be caught with one of those in my hands.

They'd look lovely framed on the wall.

Agreed, I am drawn to a lot of creative output from this period of time, and these covers are another example of design attitudes that have been lost over time.

Incidentally I saw these scans posted elsewhere recently, apparently highlights from the Dec '64 issue. Generally not as cool as the covers, but a taste of content from an average issue ...

some adverts, the first one proves that people were genuinely daring in the 60s
