God...this magazine used to be incredible. Thank you for these scans, Fiercification.

It's true - Steven Klein is such an amazing photographer when he isn't beefing up his pictures with heavy filters and distracting backgrounds. These studio shoots from him in the early 2000's are so gorgeous - simple, yet still something very off and something very alien, very bizarre and oddly sexual to them. Unmistakably his, but also so much better than his current work.

And the art direction and graphic design of this magazine was so incredible...I will always remember some of my favorite things about W Magazine were the title pages of the editorials. They were always so f*cking clever. The "Upbeat" editorial title page is breathtaking.
