On the rare occasion that I take the time to curl my hair in a 1940s style, I may or may not throw in a flower hair clip, too. The only downside of wearing one is that when people talk to me, they tend to look toward the flower rather than at me! Here's a picture from the last time I wore one of the hair clips:

^ Oooh, pretty! Thanks for sharing. Where is the clip from??

I think I may try to place a couple in with my hair up... I usually have mine curled, and in an up-do.

This is the thing - real looks better, but doesn't last the day.

Yet I often find that the flowers on hair clips you see in stores can look too artificial, so I find the best solution is to source decent-looking paper/fabric florals from a craft or bridal shop, and then attach them to your own hairclips.

Since there's not a lot of people with flowers in their hair anymore it will give you a unique look, and I think it has the potential to look really nice.

That's a good suggestion.. next time I'm at Joann I'll have to check out their fabric florals, perhaps.

Probably the last place you'd expect to find a fashion accessory, an ABC Store in Waikiki. They're actually available on the ABC Store's website (link), but in only four colors.

I love wearing flowers in my hair, real or fake. I make my own flower fascinators using fake flowers and feathers.
If you want real flowers to last in your hair, just lightly spray them with hair spray before you put them in your hair......it keeps them from wilting.

seanutbutter, you pulled off a 40s hair style so well. It looks really glamorous!

What's the one custom Hawaiian girls have, wearing flowers that mean your status (single or taken)? I would be wondering which one you are. I think you're taken.

It's probably the type of flower you get, but I don't know how many people can pull it off without looking like they're going on a vacation.

Wearing a flower behind your left ear implies that you're taken, while behind the right means you're single. Unless you're me, of course, in which case you accidentally wear the flower on your left ear when really it should be on the other side (and that should answer your last question)!

She looks absolutely adorable wearing that flower in her hair.
