^Do you have any natural wave to your hair?

If not, just spray some Bumble and Bumble surf spray in and let it air dry. If not, you could use the same product and put damp (but not soaking) hair in one big loose braid & let air dry.

This hairstyle reminds me of Veronica Lake's classic waves, a look which can be achieved with the help of a wide-barrel curling iron. If you haven't already, create a side part in your hair (as shown in the photograph). Once you've done this, take the curling iron and curl a section of hair under, holding it there for a few seconds.

You may have to do this twice or so to get the perfect wave, but it should turn out fine after you've practiced. Also, you should brush through your hair afterwards to loosen the waves and provide a softer look.

I've also heard of using hot rollers to create the look, but depending on your hair this may not work as well. If all else fails, just buy this Veronica-inspired wig. :p

If your hair is anything like mine, simply go to bed after taking a shower and not drying it. Gives a new meaning to "bedhead," doesn't it?

^Thanks so much Seanutbutter!! I'm going to try that out tomorrow.

And I agree with your bedhead comment, it seems counter-intuitive but when I sleep on my hair wet it seems to bring out a bit of messy wave/curl.

How would I go about creating this hairstyle? I'm not sure if my hair is even long enough (it's slightly past my shoulders), but I figured it may be worth a try.

Just wanted to update saying that I tried this method using a flat iron in place of a curling iron, and the result turned out similar to the original look posted by Fabulyss. Of course, not all flat irons are the same (for reference, I used a CHI), but if you let it get hot enough any type should do just fine.

seanutbutter that hairstyle looks like a sophisticated version of the kind of hairstyles that one can make using the needle tool.. I don't recall it's name.. it was popular in the late 80ies early 90ies .. a plastic device that sort of looked like a needle.. with an oversize 'eye'.. sorry to not be able to be more clear.

perfect10 - use HUGE curlers (H&M has some that will do the trick) the curlers will give your hair body.. brush the hair afterwards and apply a trunkload of hairspray preferably one that will actually hold your hair.. such as l'Oreals classic golden one..

Thanks a million I only wish I knew how to do the hairstyle in your post!

Any ideas on achieving this look?

Does anyone know how to create this hairstyle? Looks to me like she has curled her hair (using rollers, most likely) and then probably backcombed it, but I'm confused as to how she pinned it up the way she did. Is there any particular way I should do it, or do I just bunch the hair together and go crazy with bobby pins? Thanks in advance.
