If not, just spray some Bumble and Bumble surf spray in and let it air dry. If not, you could use the same product and put damp (but not soaking) hair in one big loose braid & let air dry.
You can also tease your hair, I do that a lot

I love Lauren's hair here and would like to try it out, my question is, where did all her hair go?! I have loooong hair, a few inches past bra strap length, and I think Lauren's is similar, I just don't get what she did with it all! Would you pin it all, or put it in a bun or something?

Although I'm not an expert, I've created a similar style by first tying my hair back, and then curling sections with a curling iron or carefully-situated rollers, and pinning the individual sections one-by-one (as I let the curl loose). The more hairspray you use, the fewer bobby pins you'll need (to an extent). :p To specifically emulate the hairstyle in your picture I'd backcomb first, then make a loose French twist and pull out all the ends--then curl.

Anyone have any tips on how to do a bun properly? I have long slippery fine hair and bobby pins really do not work on me. I know it's a really simple style but I would love to know how to perfect it

I love the Olivia Palermo/Lauren Conrad/Whitney Port loose waves look, but whenever I try to emulate it with curling tongs (my hair is Whitney/Olivia length) it never works and i just get a kink in the bottom. What am I doing wrong?

It's probably really obvious - the heat setting is really high, I leave the tongs in for a long time...

my favorite thing to do when i had ultra long hair was a long fishtail braid, or even one on each side of the head. they are so beautiful and ethereal when done messily:

hairboutique.com

here are some instructions on how to fishtail..
.. and here are some instructions for the inverted fishtails in the image above.

never thought it would be clear enough! so i'll give it a try again.
fish braids:
it is unbelievable difficult to do it over all the head. if you do a ponytail it's easier, good for practicing.. you divide the ponytail in two parts and then take a little bit from one side and gather it with the other, and so on. the more thin is the bit you take, the more intricate looks.

and check out this site, it's filled with crazy braided hairdos! http://www.calebcrump.com/calebs_braids2.htm

I love Kristen's hairstyle in this 2 pictures. It's so bright and that wavy hair is just prefect! How can I achieve this look? Thank you!

Does anyone know specifically how to achieve these styles? It looks like it may be a no-brainer but I'm not particularly good with hairstyling.

Here's a great tutorial for beachy/wavy hair if anyone wants it... I really want to try it but my hair's kind of too short for it.
