Gown c. 1910s. At that point the House of Worth was run by Charles Frederick's sons, Jean-Philippe and Gaston-Lucien Worth. I bought this dress, sight unseen, from a Christie's auction catalog in the early '90s and then sold it in 2006. It was beautiful but unfortunately, the bodice was made of this featherweight silk chiffon material with extremely heavy beadwork hanging from it which made it very difficult to handle & even more difficult to store. Figured I'd pass it on to someone with the wherewithal to (hopefully) care for it properly.

That first scan is wicked! And the second...I'm still trying to mentally take in and deconstruct all the details! Thanks so much for sharing, I enjoy the old names so much more than the Rodarte's and Phillip Lim's of the world
