Balenciaga Oatmeal Wool Suit
French, early 1960's
Slightly shaped throughout demi-princess seamed hip length jacket, single breasted with dyed to match button closure, sewn down side slits at rear hem, faux tab pockets at front side waist level, modified jewel neckline, long tapered sleeves, softly gathered skirt seamed only at sides of back, topstitching detail, creme silk crepe backed satin lining, size 4/6, labeled: Balenciaga/10 Avenue George V/Paris and tape label 84425.
Very good condition, hem and sleeve lengthened, jacket originally left side closure.

Estimate $600-800

Balenciaga Fine Black Wool Crepe Soft Suit
French, early 1960s
Bias cut jacket with center back seam with triangular insets at hem of same, single seam running along underside of bracelet length dolman sleeve continuing into a V at front, single breasted, self covered buttons, modified jewel neckline, dirndl skirt with pockets in side seams, black silk crepe de chine lining, size 4/6, labeled: Balenciaga/10 Avenue Georges V/Paris and tape label: 93110.
Excellent condition, skirt hem lengthened.
Estimate $1,200-1,500

Balenciaga Gold Embroidered Creme Silk Satin Gown
French, 1960s
Made over a fully boned foundation of grosgrain with linen covered stays with emanating crepe de chine slip, bodice overlaid with single layer of tulle embroidered in cyclonic floral and foliate festoons and starry flowers of metallic gold and silver thread, faux pearls, tiny gold sequins, the finished edge as ruffle along top, slightly raised waistline at front, the softly gathered skirt with center front and back seams, sweeping train with reverse embroidery appliqued to hem, matching double faced silk satin bow tie at waist, size 4, labeled: Balenciaga/10 Avenue George V/Paris and tape label 80188.
Very good condition, some light stains on skirt.

Estimate $2,500-3,500

French, circa 1960
Of silk taffeta, black ground with warp print red roses, camisole bodice with wide shoulder straps gathered at front, trimmed with two horizontal self bands at empire and waistline concluding in bow at center front, gathered skirt with revealed harem hem net over tulle underskirt, tulle lining with silk gauze hem, size 4, labeled: Balenciaga/10 Avenue Georges V/Paris.
Excellent condition.

Estimate $5,000-7,000

It acted like an understructure to allow for the clothes to move better on you, as well as support the complex engineering and construction required of his designs. Often the inner dress would require it's own zippers and closures, it really is a "double-dress" rather than a lining.

If I get a hold of a digital camera I can take photos for you of some Balenciaga dresses on the inside.
