Thank you Lena... but how about after that? People weren't too happy with that collection... I'm just wondering if the hope to expand outside of Japan again is now abandoned, or what.

Mme. was an obsessive for detail much like Pecoraro, so it would be an excellent choice. His work needs to be seen more, just like Alber's once did. The industry needs to give real artisans that chance.

thanks for reviving this thread Anna. I love madam gres and remember passing the shop on rue cambon on my wait to meet Lena (while going the wrong direction )

I really do hope that this brand fights the right designer to begin it's revival. It is so much more worthy than half the designers selling well right now.

Tatsuno's collectin for Gres is heavily influenced by origami and draws inspiration from ancient textiles, a nod to Tatsuno's early work in London when he made shirts from antique kimonos.
Love the sound of this! Were there any pictures to be had? all the pictures you posted AnnaK!

That collection is so very Ghesquiere and the shoes are very McQueen. In general it seems like the S/S 03 Balenciaga collection.

More phots:

To me it doesn't matter who they find to revive the label, no one can compare to Grès... during the war the woman made dresses with hay and tin dummies and fabrics from the market, and those dresses were so beautifully made-- Chanel could only dream of producing something so wonderfully cut.

Let the house rest, Madame's legacy is enough.

Interesting part of fashion history. I see where Sophia Kokosalaki gets the inspiration for her Grecian dresses. I love all the pics you posted Anna.

I saved these 60's Madame Gres patterns - well the pics of the final product - on my computer
