Saint Laurent Rive Gauche Safari Shirt
French, circa 1968
Of khaki cotton twill, with four flapped pockets, lace-up front, inverted pleat at center back, labeled: Saint Laurent Rive Gauche/Paris.

The shirt is the ready-to-wear version of the shirt worn by Verushka in the ad campaign for the African Couture Spring/Summer Collection of 1968. It is nearly identical, the most noticeable variation being the squared off pocket corners. See Yves Saint Laurent: Images of Design, p.63 and Harper's Bazaar, April, 2002, p.124 for a similar version with buttons.
