This thread is fantastic. Thank you to everyone who has posted in this thread. I love the mix of pictures from models and editorial shots to candid shots of the "masses" and real people from the 1950s.

At the moment in Victoria, Australia, the Bendigo Art Gallery has an exhibition on the Golden Age of Couture featuring clothes from 1947-1957. My mother and I are really looking forward to going and it should be amazing to see all those beautiful clothes up close and not just in a picture.

This is a fantastic reversible black/white light wool tweed swing coat. On one side it’s a plaid black and white checker pattern and black and white tweed on the other side which has two large patch pockets. Coat closes with two fabric covered tweed buttons and features a huge collar that can be worn both buttoned up or down for two different styles. The coat has wide sleeves and a full flared body.

This is a beautiful suit in an olive, brown and ivory weave in a herringbone pattern. The jacket is double breasted with large olive green buttons. The belt is double buttoned in the same fashion as the jacket and fully lined in a silky satin. The skirt closes with a side seam metal zipper with hooks and eyes and is lined just at the back.
