I have a swimsuit from this line! I didn't even realize this until recently. Someone in my family bought it long ago, and never wore it (along with some Cardin!). It's just a plain black one piece, but I'm still happy to own it!
André Courrèges
Day suit
Charcoal and white wool houndstooth, black suede
Fall 1961, France
Isabel Eberstadt purchased this suit from Courrèges’ first collection, described by an audience member as having “not one mistake in taste.” Infused with a fashion-forward sensibility, the suit reflects the couturier’s training at Balenciaga. Advanced tailoring techniques were required for the jacket to stand away from the body in such a sculptural manner. Courrèges reinforced the suit’s angularity with a bold houndstooth fabric, the pattern matched with precision.
