Skirt has flat front panel, and is smooth in back. Fully and expertly lined, bodice has two silk covered weights dangling from inside top of bodice lining (to ensure the top of the bodice lays properly against the body) and is also boned front and back for support. The colors are olive-brown background, with chartreuse, tangerine, yellow, cream and brown colors. Back metal zipper.

1960's Hanae Mori Op Art Print Dress
"Mori Hanae" label. Mori is considered the Queen of Couture in Japan. Mori opened her first clothing boutique in Tokyo in 1951. Soon after she began costume designing for film. In 1960, a fitting with Coco Chanel provided the inspiration that she must create Haute Couture. "East Meets West" was the theme for her first collection presented in New York in 1965. This collection was met with great enthusiasm by critics and the top department stores, and as a result Mori opened two boutiques in New York. In 1977 she opened a Haute Couture house in Paris and also a boutique. The same year she became member of the "Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture". This was a very rare privilege for someone not French born, and (at the time) for a woman. This mod little silk dress from the mid 60's is a rare find, almost unheard of to find a 60's Mori piece.. A chic little shift style dress with attached self belt. Done in tangerine and yellow in an op art dots print. Partially lined, fastens with side snaps and hooks.

The floral printed silk chiffon is over a fitted mustard colored linen sheath dress. The chiffon skirt is full and shirred around the waist, the bodice is fitted and sleeveless. The waist is finished with linen piping that ties in back in a bow. The dress zips up back with nylon zipper.

1960's Geoffrey Beene Chic Little Dress
"Geoffrey Beene Boutique" label. Beene studied design in Paris, and also New York where he worked for Samuel Winston, Harmay and Teal Traina. He started his own line in 1963, to huge success. Within a year he won the first of 3 Coty awards, and also the Neiman-Marcus fashion award. Here we have a design that combines the youthful baby-doll look with beautiful sophisticated tailoring and dramatic fabric. The fabric is probably a wool and silk blend and is in white and navy blue faille, with a wide navy center panel front and back, with solid navy borders on sleeves and ascot to match. The dress is fitted, with semi-full skirt. The neckline is actually a scarf or ascot that folds over and ties at side. The dress comes with original belt. Bodice is lined in navy cotton. Dress fastens with back nylon zipper.

1960's Tina Leser Cotton Print Gown with Matching Shawl
"A Tina Leser Original" label. One of our most famous American sportswear designers of the mid-century. From the late 1960's, a full length cotton print dress with matching shawl in a bandana or calico print. The print a lace and leaves print in mint and white. There is very nice contrasting border prints on straps, borders and inset waist band. The matching shawl is trimmed in hand crocheted lace. This is no run-of-the-mill cotton maxi dress. This is a beautifully designed and constructed dress. The bodice is lined in white cotton, the skirt in a semi-sheer cotton. There is an attached underskirt that has a generous band of hand crocheted lace, to peak out from the skirt. Nice touch. The dress is fitted through the bodice, and through the waist. The skirt is pleated and semi-full. The dress fastens with back nylon zipper, with a wide placket under the waist that fastens over the zipper and hides it. The lining and the attached slip make the dress a bit heavy - probably intended for cooler climates of summer, or spring.

1960's Silk Print Spring Coat
"Exclusively Tailored by Sonella's Fashions, Hong Kong" label. You can tell a good coat by it's lining, and this one has just that: a raspberry silk lining with quilting at the sides, very nice. Floral print (looks Thai) in spring colors of pink and green against an off white back. The coat is open front, except for two hidden snaps at collar and an attached front buckle belt done in self fabric.

1960's Pattullo-Jo Copeland Silk Print Dress Suit
"Pattullo-Jo Copeland" label. This is a gorgeous suit with couture details. From the silk covered snaps on the jacket, to the hand stitched silk lining, the tailoring is superb. This technically is a dress with a matching over blouse, you can't wear the dress without it - because the dress has a green silk slip like top that needs something over it. The outfit is made of silk shantung with the most interesting (what looks to me like) triple-process screen print of flowers against a celery green background. The print process makes the flowers almost look 3D. The colors of the print are turquoise, tangerine, light periwinkle blue, violet and grass green. The skirt and blouse top are lined in ivory silk organza. The blouse fastens in front with hidden cloth covered snaps, and has a row of decorative self fabric "pom-pom" style buttons. The side seams of the jacket curve in toward the waist, and are lightly ruched. The skirt has a few pleats at sides, and a back kick pleat. The dress fastens with a back nylon zipper placket.

1960's Tina Leser Exotic Blanket Skirt
"Tina Leser Original" and "Nan Duskin Philadelphia" labels. Possibly late 50's. As most of Leser's creations, this one has an ethnic influence and is a bit exotic. The fabric is soft and has a fuzzy texture, I think it feels like faux Llama wool (if you've ever felt a llama's fur, you know what I mean). The skirt is fitted at the waist with a pink grosgrain waist band, and is slightly flared at the hem with deep side slits (probably meant to be worn over pants). This scarf or blanket print is in gorgeous colors of spring green, fuchsia pink, black, sky blue and sherbet orange against a cream background. The skirt is lined in ivory silk and fastens with a side metal zipper placket with hooks and eyes.
