A gorgeous pair of highly praised and sought-after, original Roger Vivier evening shoes. Made from cream silk satin, and decorated with a buckle front, and are set with dozens of sparkling rhinestone gems. The classic shape of the 1960's 'mod-chíc' shoe, is vividly apparent in this lovely pair!
It is said that Vivier was soley the only designer to be able to use the same, one and only, feature in almost every shoe he designed, and this being the renowned buckle. The classic chrome Vivier buckle has been signature to the brand for decades. Almost immediately, this utterly fashionable and chíc look, is associated with his works, thus never before had a designer been able to carry out the repeat-use of one solitary design trait, proving it will be an ever-lasting, fashionable feature.
Vivier, originally began as a designer for the house of Dior during the 1940's-60's, and was responsible for designing & producing made-to-match heels for the garments produced in the house. Together, Dior and Vivier were responsible for bringing the couture world some of it's most fascinating pairs, and showcasing the importance of couture perfection in all aspects of an ensemble.
On a more memorable note, some of the decade's most important 'fashion-forward' names such as first-lady Jacqueline Kennedy and Ms. Catherine Deneuve were devoted patrons and admiriers of Vivier's works. Vivier even stated that he thought of Ms. Deneuve as his muse, therefore it would only be fitting for her to flaunt his works in many of her roles in film, including Belle de Jour of 1967 (see below).
The shoes are labeled 'Designed by Roger Vivier - Paris.'
