Actually , Travolta , Pleats Please and APOC are the only two lines that Issey himself designs .

Point of interest :-

The Issey line that is sold in plastic tubes is ' Me Issey Miyake ' .

BTW there's not an Antwerp Six thread , per se , but Ann Dem , Dries , and the others have numerous threads .

Monsieur Faust is the recognised expert here .

i think faust share's that honour with scott, kit...!!

and i would think that the antwerp six would be part of this discussion since they have all pretty much cited the japanese avant-garde as an influence...

they are the next generation of the avant-garde...

ok...start a new thread for an in-depth analysis of belgian design...
stick to how they were influenced by the japanese avant-garde aesthetic for this thread...please...or who knows where we'll wind up...we've already started talking about the whole flat thing...

thanks...

found this on a-poc...by issey miyake...
the pic is from an exhibit which i attended about 5 years ago...
http://www.designboom.com/eng/funclub/apoc.html
the stuff comes on a giant roll... ..and then you cut it up to make your own 'custom' designs...

Well, they were definitely sighted as an inspiration to create something different, something else than the accepted Parisian fashions. Especially Rei - she was an example of how you can create something completely rebellious and become a success. I don't have any quotes on hand, but I'll dig around in my books over the weekend.

Such good articles and info on Rei and Miyake, thank you so much:-).

I didn't know much about Miyake, except for a film by BBC about fashion in the 90s, where thet showed Miyake and his fabric experimentation.

Here are some old Comme:-)

CdG 83

Tricot 83

CdG 86

The pics come from various catalogs that Comme used to do in the 80s.
