Bernhard Willhelm | S/S 2001

I wanted to post earlier collections as well but couldn't find 1999, or anything from 2000

There's a comforting roundness to the shape of this jacket

I love the shoes+socks

The S/S 2000 was what introduced me to Willhelm--an article in Purple. They photographed his clothes so perfectly--in a way that highlighted a sense of balance and sophistication, but childishness as well. I wish I could see more photographs of it.

Willhelm's clothes often glide easily into the territory of being Ugly, but I think that's because he's not too attached to clothes being a certain way, or pretty, like he says in his interview w/Diane Pernet

Good eye, Cerfas. With the exception of the menswear, I like it all. Much better than the tacky-*** rubbish he's putting out in recent seasons!

That is not to say that I agree with all of the choices he makes, but it's interesting to see someone who has such a different perspective on fashion. Personally, I prefer things that manage to balance pretty/ugly, refined/trashy, ladylike/gross etc.

TrophyBrown--I know...
The menswear in this collection is a bit absurd, but I still like it, not for someone to wear--but just to look at.
