I love how the uniforms can really reflect fashion, but also, as illustrated by ~Fixation~ they can be so well designed that they are classic and appropriate for decades.
I remember a flight attendant's uniform from the History of Style forum being designed by Balenciaga just before he resigned.
I think I see a lot of Pierre Cardin here Gius! Love his designs

Here's Cardin for PIA (Pakistan International Airport)

Quote:

A PIA Air Hostess wearing uniform designed by Pierre Cardin. In 1966, Pierre Cardin, the renowned French fashion designer, came up with the legendary fawn and moss green summer and winter uniform edged with turquoise. The uniform consisted of a short, easy fitting "A" line tunic, slim-line trousers and imaginatively moulded dupatta that not only covered heads but also turned heads. The uniform became an instant hit, the slim-line trousers immediately were dubbed as 'PIA Pajamas'. Fashion-conscious young ladies, all across Pakistan, copied Cardin's design eagerly. This popular uniform design was used by the airline from 1966 to 1975

The first air hostesses started with Air France in 1946.

The first uniforms were designed by Georgette Rénal. As was typical for the times, the uniforms had a very military bearing. Rénal had her House of Haute Couture on the Avenue du Président Roosevelt in Paris from 1946 to 1966.

(Only one year later, Pierre Cardin updated the uniforms with a more feminine cut.)

1968 - Balenciaga designs the uniforms for Air France’s stewardesses, then presents his final collection, calling fashion design “a dog’s life.”

the uniforms by Christian Lacroix were works of art!

Here's an image of a flight attendant from a local airline. Very generic, yeah. But I've flied with them and the staff are generally very pleasant.

Meanwhl is it just me or are American attendants the least elegant of all the continents? Av flown European, African Asian and American airlines and the Americans are the least groomed. Also their airlines seem to focus less on physical appearance which might
In my experience Emirates are among the most elegant, even ther make up looks like its off a runway

I'll have to dig up the pictures, but I went to the Helsinki Museum of Design a few years ago and saw their flight attendant uniforms from Finnair in the 1960s. They were excellent.
