I think the shock or dramatic factor is that the 2 white dresses resemble bridal dresses. She is flaunting convention by wearing bridal dresses as red carpet gowns.

that's not her i believe. she was wearing a big black gown, with a leather jacket on top.

for the gala dinner before the Ball, she wore a black strapless long dress, with the same headgear like in that picture tho.

yeah, she did. but she only walked the runway once, and her outfit was that gown with the denim jacket on top, with that headgear.
