Well, it is part of her job to be exposed to different designers and looks...I guess it's no more so than a book reviewer getting free books sent to him, a chef getting a new food product to try or the editor of Motor Trend getting the latest car to use for a few months...It's a gray area for sure, but...

Actually, I bet her contract stipulates that Vogue buy her clothing, hair care etc. for her. She is a high profile fahion editor, so Conde Naste wants her to look impecable. It is a part of the job. Like when a company gives a salesman a company car for sales calls. Small scale analogy, but it is the same concept. It is in the company's best interest to give their employees the tools to successfully do their job. She may even have a condition that she cannot accept free clothing as it can be seen as designers trying to buy their way into the magazine, so Conde foots the bill for the clothing she chooses. Just my assumptions.
