Franca Sozzani gives an opinion on her former Vogue colleague Carine Roitfeld, who she says was “very good at building up her own image.” Sozzani suggests that Roitfeld forgot she worked for Conde Nast and became too interested in having her picture taken. “I’m not a celebrity, I’m an editor,” Sozzani says. “If you feel that to be the editor of Vogue you have to be a celebrity, something is wrong in your life.”

^I don't know if Franca is right about this. Carine has been maybe overexposed in the blogosphere, but that is not the reason why she left Vogue.

Very surprised at Franca's comment, if in fact it is quoted correctly. Not cool; from the way Carine tells it, she had nothing to do with becoming an internet fashion celebrity but it was the street photogs who made it happen.

well in the same respect it seems that franca can't keep her mouth shut. also it's not like vogue italia is exactly the most fresh and groundbreaking magazine lately. maybe she should spend less time blogging and more time coming up with new ideas instead of repeating the same ones over and over again.

sorry, that comment just really pissed me off.

^^agree. Besides Carine wasn't that exposed as Anna DR or Anna W are.

For me Carine could be as big celebity as she wanted. She delivered good stuff and being a celebity didnt change that. In fact I think that during time Carine become better and better.

That comment of Franca actually reminded me of what Carine mentioned in one of her interviews.

Quote:
On her fame

ďI think everything came with the blogs, because I worked 20 years ago, and 20 years ago no one was talking about me. I didnít change. Maybe I was at the right moment. But sometimes I say, What is so interesting about me? I am just doing photo shoots. Itís not something that extraordinary. Iím not a great artist, Iím not writing books, Iím not a painter, and people in the streets ask me for a picture or a note and I say why? But I think itís better to appreciate it, because maybe itís not forever.Ē
