French Vogue announced Emmanuelle Alt as it’s new Editor in Chief. You can read that anywhere. The french article above is from the French magazine 20 Ans where she worked with her former boss Carine Rotfield in the nineties. The article goes over her fashion favorites some time ago. The list still works and probably will for some time. Enjoy!


For those of us that don’t speak french here is the list in English

• Black plastic flip flops, easy, chic, and sexy.
• Black stockings by Wolford (because of the sublime campaign by Newton).
• Black trousers by Helmut Lang, because they are timeless and low waisted, loose fitting but not too loose.
• I don’t wear them [skirts] but from time to time a black Ann Demeulemeester skirt cut perfectly, barefoot, and the legs must be tan.
• Black coat by Costume National, tiny cut, totally modern.
• Glossies bra by Gossard, amazing, in either black or beige, like tights, seamless.
• Black short-sleeved tshirt by APC, because it is small, it looks like a tshirt from the 1970s and it ages well.
• Black sunglasses by Armani, like Bono of U2.
• Air King watch by Rolex because they do not make one better.
• Long black dress by Galliano, chic without being granny, sexy, pure with Manolo Blahnik heels.

I never knew Roitfeld was in charge of 20 ans, since at approx. (when 20 ans was cool etc.) the same time she was freelance for Vogue-Condé Nast ... She's worked til at least 1995-1996 for Glamour FR, then for Vogue-s and The Face etc.
So 20 ans ?? It would be going down.

i did find the original post by nanker_phledge but even his scan was without a full credit. apparently crediting guidelines have changed since 2006.


i love the relaxed sensuality she exudes in that photo 'vintage' Alt is such a treat, hopefully someone will enjoy the Emmanuelle de ja vu from the vaults. i also have a great article from allure magazine c. 1998 which i'll try to go dig up.

Was just reading UK Style magazine from Sunday Times and there's a feature on photographer Robert Wyatt who has an exhibition on about photos he took of 'real women' in the nude - one of the photos is of an Emmanuele in Paris who looks suspiciously like our Alt. Really want it to be her as it's so unexpected!

I got The Sunday Times yesterday and for me that looks nothing like Emmanuelle for various reasons that i will not indulge on posting, but things i will point out that aren't against the rules would be her face shape and her nose, her nose doesn't really curve on the tip, it has abit of a point and her lips aren't that full.

I agree, I have the mag and in my opinion she does not look like Emmanuelle at all.
