Wow how did I miss this -

Quote:
Dream subject, meet bucket list. Bucket list, dream subject.

The facilitator of the meeting? Melanie Huynh, of course. For the unfamiliar (seriously? Really? C'mon.), Huynh, formerly an editor at Vogue Paris (circa Roitfeld), has the kind of CV that reads more like Style.com's seasonal Top 10 than a resumé. Everything from styling campaigns for Altuzarra, Louis Vuitton and Givenchy; shows for Lanvin, Loewe and Elie Saab; and editorials for titles ranging from CR Fashion Book (where she's also a part of their online team), Porter, Interview, and international editions of Vogue ranging from China to Turkey, Spain... the list goes on. Oh, and she's also launching her own website.

We rolled up to Huynh's apartment, just off of Avenue Montaigne, on the very last day of Paris Fashion Week, right in between the Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu shows—Huynh was gracious enough to squeeze us in. Welcoming us in with her puppy, Sticky in tow; she gave us a quick tour of her amazing art and gorgeous space before leaving us to do our thing. Huynh's home had all of the makings of what you'd likely expect from a Vogue Paris alum with immaculate taste—light, airy, with an endless array of mammoth coffee table books, lush greenery, zebra taxidermy (!), Cire Trudon candles flanking every corner and incredible original photography scattered throughout.

As for her wardrobe? As if we really need to vouch for this one. Think all Saint Laurent everything (no, actually—virtually everything bared Slimane's usual signatures), with touches of Valentino, Alaïa, Balenciaga and Barbara Bui thrown in. In other words, the industry's heavyweights were all given considerable real estate in Huynh's wardrobe. And because we know you're thinking it, yes, we had an incredibly difficult time leaving that buttery black, studded SLP bucket bag behind. As for the location? The proximity to an afternoon stroll through Montaigne Market afterwards was just a bonus. Lets just say we suddenly had a little, ahem, especially divine inspiration.

"French women know fashion. They are very classy but never overdress. It’s always about the simple things, a good pair a jeans, a white shirt, a blazer, neutral tones, black, white, navy. I would say they are less 'fashionable' than Americans. They have a more timeless style and the right twist of looking feminine and chic."

Quote:
"I started working at Vogue Paris as an intern at the end of my studies. I assisted Carine Roitfeld for almost five years, and then became editor. I stayed at Vogue Paris for eight years and left at the same time as Carine did. Since then I've worked freelance as a stylist, consultant and also as an online editor for CR Fashion Book."

"[Advice I would give to aspiring stylists and editors is to] follow your passion and keep faith! Believe in your lucky star. Be a hard worker and persevere."

"I can't live without my family, green tea, Pilates or a ballet lesson in the morning, jewelry and my iPhone."

"I just launched a website, Signature International, with my partner Rosalie Miller. We're going to New York soon, to shoot a great icon, but I have to keep the 'who' a secret for now, which is a big challenge! I'm also very involved with my father's business, running a castle with a vineyard."

"I have a lot of books. They are mostly where I go to find inspiration. I love to go to photography auctions and exhibitions. I do a lot of research on people that inspire me, icons from the '60’s and '70’s. I also travel regularly and I love to discover new places and cultures."

"As you can see, I wear mostly black, leather, skirts, skinny pants in denim or leather and a lot of studs!"

"I don't think being a mother has really influenced my style. I still love fashion! Sometimes I'll use smaller and less heavy bags that are more convenient with kids."

I would define my style as Parisian, feminine, chic and a bit rock ’n' roll at the same time. Most of the time I wear a skirt, a sweater or cardigan and leather boots from Saint Laurent. I absolutely love shoes. Obsessed!"

"I love to work with my friend, Joseph Altuzarra. He is so nice and talented. I recently start working on the Lanvin show. It was really amazing and inspiring to work along Alber Elbaz. Elie Saab is also very interesting and I love the atmosphere. Alexandre Vauthier is also very special, we are very close to each other. I love [Azzedine] Alaïa, he is the master. And [Hedi] Slimane, [Nicolas] Ghesquiere..."

"When I was a student, I saved for a while to buy my first CHANEL 2.55 bag! I was so happy. It was, and still is, such an iconic piece and so timeless."

"My bag is my second home; I have everything in it. My wallet, my iPhone, a lipstick, my tea bags, which I bring everywhere. I always carry a scarf with me."

"In the morning, I start my day with barley juice and a glass of hot water. I take my green superfood [supplement] and I do stretching. I clean my face with some lotion and Granions de Zinc, and then I put some cream on, a serum by REN. I use only pharmaceutical products, like La Roche Posay. I put a little bit of makeup on. I use my father’s brand products, Ed Pinaud. My routine is the same at night, I just change the serum."

"What I like about my job is doing different things all the time. Working on a team is so rewarding. Editorials are the most creative part of being a stylist. I really enjoy it. Styling shows too, it’s very exciting; intense but challenging at the same time."

"I eat very healthy, so I like small places [in Paris], like Juice It for a fresh squeezed juice and a quinoa salad. But I also love gastronomy! I love the Relais Plaza for a nice meal with my family and Alain Ducasse au Plaza Athénée. On a night out with my friends, I would go to Caviar Kaspia or Ferdi. I am obsessed with Asian food. Japanese Kinugawa, Tong Yen, Orient Extreme, Shang Palace, Lili."

"My favorites places to shop are Saint Laurent, Le Bon Marché and Herboriste Palais Royal. I also love Avenue Montaigne, it's my favorite."
