Well I think she lives in New-York. I remember that she threw the POP relaunch party at her and Larry Gagosian's place during NYFW.
Yet, the POP offices are in London so I don't know where she actually spends most of her time.
I would love to work for her too, she seems so smart and outgoing.

Her style is impeccable.

Where does she get to money to afford her clothing habit? Is she a heiress?

What did she do before Pop?

I'm sure her significant other helps, too.

Does being an editor of Pop pay that much?

No one asks how these other editors and stylists afford their 10,000 Balmain jackets on their salaries. Why is there such curiosity about Shayla? Maybe she comes from money like 90% of the women who land jobs at major fashion magazines.

i agree. why do we never hear this criticism when it comes to the male counterparts for these women? no one asks how hamish bowles can run around in savile row suits or jefferson hack can afford his endless supply of designerwear.

I always wonder how editors manage to fund their clothing habits. I know many of the fashion world's female writers/editors come from money or married into money (Lauren S. Domingo).

But I haven't heard anything on S. Monroque's background yet, so I'm curious. I don't think having a rich boyfriend would mean that she slashes his credit card every time she shops for clothes, so she has to to able to afford it herself - question is how?

Maybe she comes from money or has earned it through her endeavors?

I don't get whe we sould absolutely know, how she can afford all these fantastic pieces.
As Kimair said, she seems to be very close to the designers she wears, so she must get free stuff. Moreover for events I think she gets some pieces to be photographed in, and send them back on the next day. Finally, for her everyday life, I think dating one of the biggest
art dealer in the world and working for a major fashion magazine is enough( I don't think Shala is the kind of big spender girlfriend, who shops only sith her boyfriend credit card). And I doubt she comes from money, one time on her blog she posted something about when she arrived in the city and she worked as a waitress or something for a living. So she seems to have worked to afford all this.

She looks fantastic, once again. The Miu-Miu dress looks amazing on her, and I love the accessories.

I never really wondered how she can afford all this - the only mystery to me, is that she appears (at least, to me) to have popped out suddenly from nowhere - so what's her background? And when I say background, I mean working background. The really sweet one pager of her from Seventeen magazine from a few pages back made it look like she just up and moved to NYC to give it a shot, and a few years later she seems to have done very well in a very short amount of time. Did she do something,or work somewhere significant before Pop, that everyone seems to know about except for me?

For all her designer pieces I've just assumed it comes from being friends with designers or getting massive discounts. We look at all the French Vogue girls and it's clear that E.Alt gets it through her styling gigs (and obv connections), Melanie H. styles Altuzarra, Vanessa Traina comes from money (and connections). I guess for some people with Shala, it's not such an immediate connection.

She does have an awesome eye though for wearing things in a really refreshing way. She always looks really comfortable in whatever she's wearing.
