If you get karma from a person who has a lot of karma points ... your karma points will increase extremely rapidly. Has nothing to do with how long you have been here nor how much you have posted ... just the quality of the posts and who appreciates what you post. It's possible to max out in a month or two ... if you attract the interest of the big karma people.

Exactly!

Btw, out of curiosity, how come TFS doesn't show the amount of karma each member has received? The forums that my BF go to have an extra line under the post count that says "+ (number of karma)"

I think it's a fun idea

It does show your karma points ... in your own User CP. Look at the screen cap above and you can see it at the bottom of that ... to the far right of "Received" ... the karma points received by that member is 2,147,483,647.

We don't make it public, because we don't like "popularity contests" here. That creates an "I'm better than you are!" atmosphere .... not what we encourage at tFS.

Echoes ... thanks for that link. It's fun! It's a fantasy thread about what you would buy with your points, if you could actually "spend" them.

It doesn't matter ... karma points don't mean anything, actually. You can't control them .... you can't do anything with them ... you don't know how many you are giving when you "give karma" .... and the receiver does not know how many they just got. And everone maxes out very soon if they post a lot (more posts, more chance of having someone appreciate your contribution) ... so soon we all have exactly the same number.

What is important is that it's a way to aknowledge other members' contributions, to say thank you or otherwise be able to say something nice about a particular post. They will see your comment and it will make them happy.

I just now figured out the karma system and I didn't know I was receiving them until I looked at my user CP. I thought only really popular "important" people received them or gave them. Thank you to all who have given me Karma. LoL.

I'm pretty new to this system, but how many points do you need to get another square ()?

Sorry, I'm pretty slow with things like this! don't judge. haha.

The squares under your name is determined how many posts you have made. Eheh.

The karma system is different.

Here's the answer to your question: http://forums.thefashionspot.com/sho...0&postcount=12

^Oh! haha. My bad! Thank you for answering that.

I was thinking because all the members with tons of squares have a lot of posts which gave them more karma. opps. Thanks!

As you can see, it's completely democratic, and getting more so all the time
