Sure, the "Oh she looks great" posts may be tedious, but on the other hand they're part of the friendly environment. as for being 'normal' to care about how much models/actresses weight, i hope this is not why people post at tFS, cause i dont see this obsession normal at all.. why should one care how much someone weights? its so meaningless

like other's said, we are not a supermodel's forum, we are a fashion industry forum and our members need to understand this at some point.

what about making sc a non-comment forum?
would this be the way out of this dark weight talk issue?

^&^^ That would be the same thing as closing down SC. Nobody wants to post images in a forum where you can't share your opinion about a certain style, look or garment.

Besides, by this argument other forums should be image only as well. SS for starters. And, of course, mags and ads as well. Part of the reason for the existence of ads and mags is because people want to look attractive, and consequently people comment the way supposedly attractive people look in ads/mags.

Agreed, and I would hate to see this.
I think to allow fully fledged weight discuission in Supporting Cast would be troublesome.
However, I would advocate it in other areas of the forum such as DS, perhaps Star Style.
I personally feel that SC is the place where we need to be more careful.

I agree with the article in the second post that TFS seems to promote saying emaciated figures are beautiful by banning any comment of the opposite. Saying someone looks really fit, or great or slim, is no different from saying they don't look fit, or don't look slim, or look to slim. It's someone's opinion. I think that juvenile posts should be moderated and deleted. televisionwithoutpity has great rules about this that prevent conversation from going juvenile.

I don't agree with the TFS policy on weight because it distorts general opinion on a topic by only allowing one side to be heard. I honestly thought there was something wrong with the way i viewed women over the last few years because of how much everyone loved all these extremely thin women, after reading the article in the second post on this thread i realize that maybe not everyone felt that way, but just the rest of the people were being prohibited from voicing their opinions.

I would support the making of supporting cast an images only without comment thread. If this is about fashion then we don't need to see the "she's so beautiful" or the "she's so ugly" material. This way the no-weight policy will not encourage the development of a bias of opinion where a 14 year old will look at pictures of some models who are very thin, and only see positive comments and think that since everyone agrees they must all be right.

So my suggestion, make the supporting cast a no-comment section. Just for posting pictures. Since this site is about fashion and not personal genetics, or body shape, or physical beauty, I don't see a need to comment on the people who wear the fashion as their job. If someone wants to comment on the clothes the model is wearing, let them make those comments on a more appropriate site (like the site for the designer).

you know...the weight issue is perhaps even more troublesome among celebs. The public know about celebs, not models, and the thinness ideal is certainly prevalent among celebs...thus possibly affecting ppl adversely.

haha ultra, it's literally the very first post of this thread, why we banned weight comments to begin with.

Whoever suggest TWoP....it's interesting but I don't think the same type of people who post there, are the type who post here but I will check out their guidelines as I do hang around there a bit (mostly lurking trying to find info about John Krasinski from the office. I'm a geek - I know).

To me, and the people posting in this thread, it all seems like we all don't trust each other to make insightful, interesting and relevant posts.
