Suggestion: stop using Imagevenue.com to post pictures
Just a comment / feedback: I really appreciate it when members DON'T use Imagevenue.com to host their photos. Imagevenue has this awful pop-up ad for an adult porn / chat site on every single photo. And now it is no longer a pop-up ad- instead you have to click a box agreeing to see 'adult content' before you can even see the fashion photo. And once you click the box, another window pops up INSIDE the window, with a chatbox or something for 'adult friend finder' that starts playing audio.

Perhaps I'm paranoid, but it makes me nervous to click on the pop-up ad- you never know what sorts of spyware/malware etc. they are installing on your computer.

Beyond that, its a pain to have to click the box to 'agree' to see the adult content, mute your computer before the thing starts talking, and then close the adult chatbox that covers the fashion picture. All that- just to see a picture that has nothing to do with adult content.

I've tried ad-blocking the chat box, but it seems immune to ad-block unfortunately. So if anyone knows a way to block it, please let me know. Otherwise, I really appreciate everyone who uses other photo hosting sites!

I have to agree about this..it is so unpleasant when you're trying to see pictures that are of people wearing clothes and you get something really nasty instead.

we already have a discussion about that:

Imagevenue, ImageBam, etc. are advertising porn before you can see an image.

most image hosting sites have popups, porn and whatnot.
i suggest to use adblock plus, i never get popups, chatboxes or other nasty stuff.

i don't think we can/should ban imagevenue since most HQ pics are hosted there.

How about this -- if you HAVE to use ImageVenue, meaning it has nudity, then you can. I guess a lot of sites delete lingerie pics, so you can upload those onto ImageVenue as well.

But if the girls are wearing clothes, please upload them to a NON porn advertising site.

Does that sound fair?

Why don't people use Imageshack? (That's what I use. ) It's free, and no porn pop-up ads, as far as I know... But anyway, yes, I agree, the pop-ups on sites like image avenue and what not, are really awful. And do you guys know the one ad where's there's actual video/audio, that automatically starts...well, the other day, I forgotten I had my desktop speakers cranked up (and I bought powerful speakers, so I could crank my music :p) and that ad came up, and started blasting that girl Shay, talking about finding sex partners or what not...so, glad no one else was home to hear it, that would have been very, very awkward.

Oh no. Imageshack is the worst site to host images ever, it's incredibly slow. Use photobucket or do what candlebougie does.

I think the problem about Imageshack is that we're not allowed to upload nudity pictures there... I usually use Imagetitan, Imagebam is only a problem for me when there are nudity pics, 'family safe' pictures usually don't come with porn pop-ups.

Oh yes, there's only a pop-up window with imagebam when you select adult content. So yeah, imagebam is a great one, I guess. Really, don't use imageshack, it drives me nuts just the time i need to wait until I see the picture.

True, but imagevenue is BY FAR the worst because of the 'adult friend finder' ads.

And I do use AdBlock Plus but the talking window still pops up. I've blocked the porn photos on the window, but not the audio or the box itself- I don't know if its possible to do so.

Exactly! I've had several awkward moments exactly like that. Because of it, I don't click on photos (sadface) on tFs anymore at work because of this annoying ad.

Would you consider asking members who are posting normal images of celebs fully clothed / handbags / accessories to NOT use Imagevenue? It really is the worst, and the talking 'adult friend finder' pop-up is horrible. Members shouldn't have to see sex cam ads when they are just looking at the Star Style threads.

I really like Shelton123's suggestion:

I think this is a great, very fair solution. I would LOVE it if this became policy.

it's not just the pop-ups that's bothering me, but also the pictures and films that are shown on the site next to the uploaded picture.

Update:

The moderators have revisited this again (for about the fourth time) ... and we still have no resolution at our end.

We cannot ban members from using outside hosting sites that have porn ... 95% of them have it somewhere. And those that don't, have other issues that make them difficult to use. We are leaving the choice up to each member.

Adding more space to "attach" images (host them here) is not a viable option in the near future which, of course would be our first choice. Members get 10 times the "attachement" space if they upgrade their account ($20 a year). After that runs out, they must choose outside hosting sites or must hotlink ... neither of which is ideal. But we want to at least warn people about the porn issue.

To that end, the moderators have decided to post an announcement both here and in the Announcement Forum and advise people to take caution when clicking on images because they could lead to porn ads. We will direct them back to this thread, in case they want advice about any particular sites, pop up blockers, etc.

Too bad that is not possible to add more space to attach images, it would be a good solution.

Sites to use if you are not going to post nudity could be:

- Tinypic.com
- Photobucket.com
- Imageshack.com

Btw, why it's the Latest Threads list in the bottom of the main page ? It should be above or below the tFS facebook fan page thing.
