Announcement: Rule Change regarding Hositng Sites ... to remove links to porn on tFS:

Effective immediately, we ask that members no longer host images at any site that allows porn or that has porn ads. Please find a completley porn free site to host your images.

We ask for your cooperation in helping us rid tFS of links to porn ... by hosting your images on a porn free site or by attaching them (see the paper clip icon, in "Go Advanced"). And you can help us by nicely directing other members to this Announcement if you see that someone is still hosting images on sites that allow porn and porn ads.

To assist our members, we have made arrangements for a hosting site ... at no charge ... that will accept tasteful fashion nudes but guarantees that there will be no porn allowed. http://fashionpix.org/

In the past we announnced that members may not use Image Shack to post nude, partialy nude or implied nude images because they do not allow any nudity in any form. If you do and post them here on tFS, they wil l ban us which will effect thousands of posts. That rule is still in effect.
We will not be removing any old images posted on the old sites ... but we will be contacting you if you continue to use those sites.

Here are the new rules:

1. Do not host any images (nude or otherwise) on any site that features porn, such as ImageBam, ImageVenue, or ImageHaven. This includes the "family safe" areas of thse sites because they still lead to porn ads in many instances.
2. You may host images on ImageShack, as long as they do not contain any nudity, even partial or implied. They will continue to ban us if you do so.
3. You may host any images, including tasteful nudes at http://fashionpix.org/
4. If you wish to post a nude image, you have 2 options:
· For images containing nudity, you may still use the attachment feature here at tFS (the paper clip icon, in the Advanced Reply). Every member has a limited amount of space. If you run out, you may purchase a Premium Account upgrade and you will receive 10 times as much space to host images here, in addition to other enhancements.
· Or, you may host them at http://fashionpix.org/. It's free. They will allow tasteful nudity, but will not allow porn in hosted images or in ads. You may use this as your primary image hosting site for all images, if you wish.

Hi Bette - I have a question! I registered at fashionpix, and went to upload a photo to test it - but it seems you have to upload and copy codes one at a time, plus type in a title for each and every photo? Will there be a facility to allow easier upload of multiple images, the way ImageBam, ImageHaven, and ImageVenue do?

Also, I tried one upload with an HQ image, and immediately got an error:

Quote:
Error uploading image file:
zoomp_2006_27.jpg: Image width invalid
zoomp_2006_27.jpg: Image heigth invalid
And then I noticed it said, on the upload page:

Quote:
Max. File Size: 2000 kb
Max. Image Width: 1024 px
Max. Image Height: 1024 px
So does that mean HQ images, like the usual 2000-3000 pixel ones are no longer allowed here, unless they're on ImageShack? Who have a file limit too, so the really UHQ ones can't be posted at all anymore? Is that true? If so,

I hadn't seen this when I just posted using one of the verboten image hosts. My apologies. It was one post, non-nude, and in checking the links individually just now, there were not any offensive pop-ups.

In any event, given that I choose not to use Imageshack, fashionpix.org nor will renew the upgraded account, I will not be posting any more photos.

Wow, this sort of truly sucks for those of us who post the larger HQs. I may end up having to cut back this coming season as well. Imagebam may be pornified but it was most convenient as Imageshack drives my PC insane.

Sorry but I have a problem. I understand people hate the porn popping up but I don't think this is a fair result.

Most of us member who get HQs from celebutopia, celebcity, tlfan etc use imagevenue.com or imagebam.com or imageshack cause that is what the pics are loaded up into from those sites.

We sometimes get over 100 pics in a set especially around awards time. Are you saying we now have to resave them and reupload them into another site. That will take forever. And which sites? Some can't handle the size and I don't even know any other ones besides the 5 I have mentioned.

Sorry but I refuse to use Photobucket as it alway runs out of bandwidth and people can't see the pics, tinypic only lets you load one pic at a time and imageshack is so slow that I don't use it unless they have been upload there by the HQ sites.

Again sorry but I don't see how this is fair. Everyone wants the HQs and people with access provide them so now what. What about UHQ? They can only go on certain sites as they are too big and it's usually imagevenue.

This is a problem as far as I'm concerned and needs to be addressed.

There are certainly members who don't care for HQ/UHQ images, and that's fine. But there is definitely a following for it.

Not to belabor the point, but the main image sites we identify in use are used because they typically allow both larger dimensions and file size. Additionally, some have capacity for uploads up to 100 images at a time. It's unfortunate that there are often porn pop-ups associated with the uploaded files, but there are certainly tweaks to one's browser that could block an offensive site behind the scenes. Those pop-ups are usually triggered because the original uploader indicated that the uploaded content was NSFW...when in fact, they're not. Not everyone has the same perception of fashion/nudity/cleavage, etc. And it seems a lot of people tend to mark NSFW out of default anyway. Regardless with any upload site, when traffic increases, you're bound to see more pop-ups, unintended sites and annoying banners/ads, unless you're savvy to blocking them from the onset.

This is a fashion site. There is nudity upon occasion. Sometimes it's artistic. Other times it's raunchy. But it's always within the context of the photo. If we seek to censor potential porn site misdirection, pop-ups, etc. to satisfy the general public, shouldn't we be censoring all exposed skin, nudity or photo/video that could be misconstrued?

^ I hate Photobucket only because so much gets lost after 90 days for inactive accounts.

I preferred Imagebam because it's soooooo simple.

It really doesn't mean anything at all for viewing a picture and commenting on it. It only matters for printing a picture if you plan on enlarging it and using it for a display of some kind.

I've always wondered how rights holders feel about images being spread around in dot densities intended for commercial printing.

Is there any way we all can come to a compromise about this.

What about if for only HQ or UHQ pics we have to put in our posts what imagehost site they are from so like this -

Blah Blah at so&so premiere, 12 Feb 2010 - celebutopia, imagevenue

Then it's up to the indiviual member to deside whether or not he or she wants to click on the pics. Please mods can we please consider this option or any other ideas.
