My first over obsessed shopping phase was with sneakers, so I wouldn't mind seeing a sneaker forum around here (although I am new), I'm sure there will be plenty of contributors to that subforum.

+to vicky, I believe they're called Nike Zoom Blazers but I'm unsure if that's a strap around the ankle area of the shoe..

I want an option to remove all folders involving handbags, shoes (as in shoes, shoes... Jimmy Choos and Maneater Beatniks &c.) and other non fashion related rot like that.

I don't either ... but I suspect that POC is displaying his usual quirky humor.

I think it's great idea. Personally I know my feet are wearing sneakers a 100 times for every time I even contemplate putting on heels. So while browsing the Louboutin thread and looking at YSL Tributes is a nice fantasy, a sneaker forum would be much closer to my everyday reality and style.

I voted neutral since the "shoes, shoes, shoes" forum is not one that I frequent the most so I don't want to make a decision for the people that are in here more than I am. Honestly though, my opinion is "no" just because I'm not that interested in sneakers. I don't exercise near enough and that is pretty much the only time I wear athletic shoes. I wear urban style sneakers like pumas for everyday shoes if I have to do a lot of walking but all in all I don't give much though to sneakers compared to other types of shoes. In fact it's probably like only 5% of my shoe-related thoughts if that. But I voted "neutral" so I don't ruin it for the hard-core sneaker fans.

Question: Would shoes like chucks and bensimons be considered sneakers?

Adidas / Puma / Converse / Bensimon etc etc etc

are all 'Sneakers' or as we call them over here 'Trainers'

The word 'Sneaker' was a marketing term invented by the man responsible for advertising Keds sometime in the early part of the 20th Century, (after 1917), as 'shoes' with soles that made no noise when walking..

Plimsolls, (the first rubber soled shoes), were invented over here in England in the late 1800's and immediately found favour with the Working Class as a 'modern', affordable and practical alternative to the heavy and not very comfortable work boot on daytrips to the seaside and other 'leisure' activities. Almost sand proof, light and quick drying it wasn't long before the exploding Victorian 'middle class' took note and began promenading in white ones with their flannels and madras jackets..the rest, as they say, is History.

Thank you, the modernist. If we start the forum you must post that information there. This is only a poll ... not a discussion about sneakers.

But the info themodernist posted is obvuously needed, when some members don't know what the word "sneaker" means. If they are voting "no" thinking that Converse are some other kind of shoe, then this poll will be misrepresentative.
