Newbie FAQ's ... How to Navigate tFS

Today is my first day on TFS. Any advice, ideas or suggestions on how to learn more about this awesome site.

Omigsh! That's a tall order! We are a huge site with thousands of threads. You will notice that in some forums, the past week's activity goes on for pages.

There are several ways to use the site. To just browse and explore is probably the best way to get a feel for what is here.

You may start your browsing by clicking on the home page (upper left in the dark gray bar) then then clicking again on the link to take you to the forums. When you get to that page You will see a several collections of individual forums grouped into sections. The sections are;

Front Row which is mostly about the fashion buisiness and careers, designers, collections, models etc.,
Visualizing Fashion, which is about the rest of the business, fashion magazines, ads and the people who produce all that eye candy for us,
the Finishing Touches which is about accessories, shoes, bags, shopping;
the Style Spot about incorporating fashion into your own lives and celebrity fashion;
the Sidewalk Cafe , about other, non fashion and unrelated subjects, celebritiy gossip, music,films, personal issues;
the Information Spot where announcements affecting all the members are made and where you can get help ... your reference place.


Please do a search first for your topic, before starting new threads. Our search function is found. above right on the bar. There is information in this link, about how to search more effectively since it can be difficult at first. We are a huge site at tFS, with thousands of threads on almost every subject. So, it's usually best to start out with an advanced search, search by thread titles and ask for results by threads. And to narrow it down even further, you may select a forum too ... if you know which forum might be applicable.

Please familiarize yourself with our Community Rules ... see bar at bottom of every page .... and when posting, check to see if there are additional rules for posting in that particular thread (usually thread rules or guidlines are in the first post or two in a thread) . We are a closely moderated site and we expect our members to stay within the rules.

Some of our unusual rules here at tFS are:

• We want you to credit any photos or articles that you post here.
• We do not allow any talk about weight, drugs or politics.
• We discourage spamming and self promotion ... see here for those rules.

See the Community Rules for detailed information about all the rules. We find that is keeps the Fashion Forum on topic and a pleasant place to share and network.

If you have any further questions about how to do things, there are lots of very helpful threads right here in the Member Support forum so you may ask your unanswered questions in the appropriate thread. And all of the moderators ("Mod Squad", our user names are purple) are at your disposal ... just send them a Personal Message (PM) if you need extra help with something.

I find a bit hard to navigate at tFS too. But BetteT, your 'guide' was very helpfull !

Can someone please explain to me how I find pictures of like celebs and parties etc??
I am a newbie and confused

If you are looking for something specific there is a thread here in Members Support & Feedback where you can ask other members for help locating the thread - But my advice is to look around and get a feel of tFS.. see where what topic goes.. you can also do advanced searches on topics

i have a question: how do you choose the description you get?
i see people called 'scenester', 'windowshopping' etc
does TFS pick those names for you or can you change it yourself?

Hi Ghostboy - your 'title' changes as you post..
Only those with a premium account can customize their title.

Minimum posts :

windowshopping 0
scenester 50
rising star 100
front row 200
backstage pass 500
trendsetter 1000
tfs star 1500
fashion insider 2000
fashion elite 2500
fashion icon 3000
V.I.P. 3500
