Why do you want this?!

I think the best idea that has been said is to open registrations for short periods of time, like a week every couple of months.
It's very easy to vote no once you're in...
But think about all the useful people waiting outside who weren't as lucky as some of us to find tFS when registrations were open

I want that because quite a lot unregistered persons check through the threads and well, do unwanted stuff with the pictures. Maybe I'm just a bit hypersensual, though...

Yeah but, how would guests know what tFS is like then? I mean, we were all guests once, right? And registered because we were able to see what tFS was all about etc.
But if they can't, why would they register?
Or do you mean just the pics not to be visible for guests? I'm getting confused

I like the idea of limited open registration every few weeks/months/whatever. That way, the ones who really want to join will check back on open dates and register.

Even though there will be lucky wanderers that happened to find tFS on the right date and then join and ditch, there will be less of them compared to if registration was completely open.

Could it be possible for members to gain invites to give out more easily? i thought that the karma points idea was good or even post count/contribution.

i do think in some ways nyxs idea is good as i would never have got in here if i hadnt registered before it closed, and tfs should be open to people in my opinion as access to content is what makes people want to join

I totally agree with this It would be very easy to leave things as they are - but what about all the good things that will come from growing and developing the forum? Of course, there are going to be pests - it's a fact of life, and it's something everyone is aware of. Let's not paint everyone with the same brush, because I can't seriously imagine that a few rogue elements could detract from the wonderful place that tFS is. With the moderation that we already have in place, and perhaps the addition of new Mod Squad Members - we should be able to embrace new members, not close ourselves in

Sorry to post again so soon after my last one, but I can't seem to find the edit option.

Anywho, I think it would also be a good idea to limit posting new topics to those with a certain post count. I say this because I looked at the fashion section Yahoo Answers recently and it was flooded by preteens asking people to put together a whole back-to-school outfit together for them. And it wasn't something along the lines of "What would go well with these shoes?" It was, "make me a back 2 skool outfit plz. I want 2 look hot and not too expensive." With no picture or description of themselves or their style. Just very vague and only showing their inability to think for themselves.

So to prevent a flood of topics like those, I think that making new topics should be limited to after a certain post count in you decide to open registration.

Or, if you take the limited time registration route, perhaps refrain from opening during August-Early September nor Christmas holidays. And spare people from the masses of teens and preteens that want their style defined and put on a plate for them by complete strangers.

I may sound harsh, but as a teen, I find it very irritating.

i think it should stay exclusive...... only because if the people who actually work in the fashion industry find out that their competition is here to they will no longer post and the newcomers will mainly be here to lurk..
please warn me before you open so i can change my name

:x I went for about 3 months without posting..I'm glad I wasn't deleted.

I just think there are certain forums that are likely to attract a certain type of person who just wants a quick answer and nothing more.

I think that having the 'professional' sections visible to guests and new members would encourage only those passionate about the industry to sign up.
