Open an account a Paypal. Of course you will need to hook it to a checking account if you don't have a credit card.

If you are not kidding !!?? ... I'll tell you.

It's a bank account where you keep your money so that you may write checks to pay for things ... like paying bills and to pay the credit card bills, if you are not doing it electroncally. Now days, a lot of things are done electonically, so you don't use many checks ... but they give you some, just in case. They also give you a check card ... which looks like a credit card, but it's just another way to pay for things from your own money that is in your checking account ... just like using a check.

A credit card is different ... when you buy something with a credit card, you are borrowing the bank's money ... not using your own. You must pay that back and usually you would take money out of your checking account when the bank says a payment on your credit card is due.

Whenever someone pays you with a check ... that is money that is coming out of a checking account.

I also don't have a credit card so I have this problem as well. I have a savings account, but until I'm 18 my parents have to perform all transactions for me. For me personally there really isn't much of a difference because my parents would have to sign off either way. I don't really know how paypal works, but wouldn't that be essentially the same function as a credit card, but online? If parents are controlling our accounts, than we'd have essentially the same problem as not having a credit card.

Paypal automatically charges your bank account electronically ... usually your checking account but you can have it charge a credit card, too. But you do have to have some sort of account where it can get the money and then you set it up to link both Paypal and your bank account for this purpose.

OH ... and I think that Paypal has a credit card that you can apply for as well ... it's not really part of the payment system ... it's just another service they offer through a bank to make some extra money. But you'd need to be 18 and working to get credit.

Do you need parental consent if you're under 18?

You'd have to ask the bank what their rules are ... it depends. But usually, they will only allow savings accounts if you are under 18. Check Paypal and see if they can hook into a savings account.

I have a savings account and they won't let me get a checking account and credit card until I turn 18 in June.
Some problem with kids getting into trouble with their credit cards, overspending, etc...

You could ask your parents to help you set up a youth account at the bank. Everything will be under your name but your parents can put controls on it. Ie, you can only take out 20 dollars max a day, or se 50 max a day on your debit card. If you had a youth account your parents woudlnt have to worry as much of your spending and you can put whatever money you want to in there. Even if it is as little as 20 dollars..

I don't think so ... it's pretty automated ... whatever they accept is what they accept.
