That's so weird because it's only on a certain thread and a certain thread page. I re-checked all my firewalls and virus scanners and they seem to be fine. I just have no idea what else it could be.

Which thread? Which page? The URL seems to belong to a law firm.

I don't think is that. For example, when people hot link from catwalking.com, a box like that shows up and you have to insert your username and password in order to view the content, if you don't have an account on catwalking, I guess you can't insert anything and you won't view it. Same goes to that case.

So it's a hotlink? Because the name doesn't come anywhere near any account I have. I just press cancel.

Thank you a lot for the help, I do appreciate it.

We don't know that for sure. That's why I asked which thread and which page so I can look at the page source code and see what might be doing it.

What the others are saying is that is someone posts a picture from a private hosting account, that kind of login screen might pop-up.

I don't remember which thread it was, but I crossed that thread as well and it was an image someone posted. The person hotlinked the image from a private site, like catwalking.com, that's why that box comes up.

Echoes and you are correct, Filipe ... it's a hotlinked image and to see it, the site requres that you log in. So ... I've deleted it.

It may or may not be the same post that McClaire had problems with .... but if she want's to post it here, I'll do the same for her.

OK, I see the problem. There is an image in post 1666 that is apparently posted from something they got in an email. The first part of the image tag starts with https://www.********** That's the identifier of a secure server and you need to be logged in to see it.

It's taken me probably 15 minutes or more to make that one post. I had to enter one or two words at a time and then edit and re-edit to add additional words.

Sorry I didn't post which thread it was. I got distracted and forgot. But Filipe posted the right thread. In particular it was page 56.

This has happened before but now it wont go away, if I have a new profile comment and/or a new pm the pop up box shows up alerting you that you have a new pm. I go to my pm but even after I do that it still pops up. Even writing this I am getting the pop ups. I after I read the pm it still marks it as new. Every time I go to a thread it pops up. I tried clearing my cookies and closing my browser but nothing is working. I hope this makes sense.

That is a PM pop up ... not an ad pop up. And it's directly related to the problems we experienced this past weekend ... the forums, threads, posts, subscritions, PM's, profile comments and related links were just not updating ... as if you were never there.

Let me just add that you can disable that PM pop-up at Show New Private Message Notification Pop-up:
