Hmm. That is a bummer; I have a terrific username I'd like to change mine to.

Just a thought, though: Why not allow every user to change their username just once? And then it would be permanent.

There is nothing in our system that tracks who has changed their name, how many times they have done it or who they were, before. If we had that ability, that would be a good option.

^ Oh, I see. Of course, yes the tracking would have to be a system feature for that to work. Thanks for responding!

Funny vBulletin hasn't thought of developing such a feature. You'd think lots of clients would be interested in one.

Don't ask us ... the moderators do not make the decisions nor do they have the ability to change names.

I'm not a newbie, but is there any way for me/a mod to change my username? Or are you stuck with the one you picked initially?

You wouldn't lose your posts, but your new account would be merged with your old one and you would still have your same user name. Nothing is to be gained by doing this; in fact, it is explicitly prohibited by the Community Rules.

Tried that, the results were problematic. Big mess, confusing to members, lots of extra work for the moderators... and some members wanted to change names every few days, as if they were trying on clothes!
