Thank you ... I'll have someone take a look at it to see if it's a systems problem.

Here's your answer, scriptgirl.

The Michelle Obama thread is one of those mega threads that are over 1,000 posts. At that size these long threads take an extra long time to load and puts a heave load on our systems, especially during the busy times when a lot of members are viewing it. So the system takes extra time to catch up ... that's all.

You may or may not know, that we have started to close long threads to speed things ups for our members. We have already closed all threads over 10,000 posts ... and have started new threads to replace them. Soon, we will start on the next group ... and if this thread stays as busy as it is right now, it will probably be included.

I don't understand what you mean by closing threads? Will the old ones still be available to look at and how will you know if the threads are closed?

Don't worry about it ... they are still available to read. You just can't post in them ... the last post gives a link to the new thread so it's easy to find.

I will have tech look at this again. When they checked, they did not see any problems with the system. Perhaps, under very busy times, notifications might get delayed ... it might just be inherent in the system. Some things take time if the load is heavy.

To help me provide them with enough information to double check this for you, please answer all the questions below:

1. When you say "showing up in my userCp" ... are you talking about the threads you are subscribing to?

2. If this is what you are talking about, how many threads are you subscribed to?

3. Are all the other suscribed threads updating in a timely manner (other than these two)? Or are all the subscribed threads having a delay?

4. Exactly how long are they taking to update for you?

5. Is is always slow ... or does it vary .... it is a certain time of day? What time of day are you checking your subscriptions ... or are you just waiting for email notification?

6. I want to verify that it is being delayed by not showing up in your UserCP, correct? You are not talking about getting delayed emails, correct?.

I"ll have them take another look ... no idea why this would be happening to the Vanity thread too .... it's pretty short .. less than 200 posts.

scrptgirl,

Your problem seems to be isolated to you ... and they don't seem to find any issues at our end.

So, all I can suggest is that you unsubscribe and re-subscribe to those threads and see if that helps. Other than that ... I can offer nothing more ... you will just have to live with it. I'm sorry.

i have a question about similar thread options

Not too long ago when I would enter a thread, there would be a list of threads at the bottom that were similar to the one I was in at that moment. For example, if I am in US Vogue March 2008 Michelle Obama, then at the bottom more links to other US Vogue threads and maybe michelle's thread would appear, then I could click one of these links and thus be in that thread instead. I found this option very convient for shearching for certain images or just learning the history of a magazine or models etc.

However it seems now that this option is gone. Or maybe I mistakenly done something for this option to dissappear. Could some help me please?

I think that option is gone. There were some recent changes done to speed up the loading times here ... and several features that were dragging us down, have been disabled. This is one of them, if I remember correctly.

There is a Search thread to coach you how to do an effective search pinned near the top of this Member Support forum. It's actually a more accurate way (than the old similar threads feature) to find similar threads by choosing the keywords you want ... and once you have your search function set right, it only takes a moment to use it.

Is anyone else having trouble seeing pictures sometimes ?

they show up in a little white box with a red X even if they were showing in the thread before.

like in the Coco thread I was just in, a picture showed up fine the first time, and an X the next time I went in like 2 minutes later

is it just me ?
