The ads are annoying as hell... It's obnoxious how a loud sound goes on and my whole screen is covered by a commercial... I'm not clicking on the ad on purpose..just bc Im so pissed off how they try to shove it down your throat.

Is anyone else getting the Post Up Beta ads, in-between the first and second post on each page? I have a Safari Ad Block installed, which has been working for months.
Until a few days ago. I've tried re-installing it, but they still seem to appear. Can anyone recommend something else? I'm using Safari on Windows.

Yes ... that is a new option (well ... not that new ... it's been available for a few months, I think) given to advertisers by the ad company who owns the Fashion Spot. It's not a pop up ... it's a legit ad space on the page just like the banner is. So I don't think that any ad blocker will work in this instance.

Oh right I see, thanks BetteT. It's seriously annoying, but thankfully I don't get the banner appearing. Just the box in-between the first and second posts.

By "the banner" I mean the ad at the top of the page, under the gray nav bar, not a pop up. That is a paid ad, too.

There is no pop up with this ad between the first and second post on each page. It's just an ordinary ad ... plain and simple.

I don't think its an ordinary ad. I think it defaces the look of the forums. Seems totally irrelevant from a members view. Regardless of the advertisers wanting it.
It's minor things like that, that totally ruins the tFS experience, personally speaking.

Paradoxically, it is things like that that pay for the tFS experience.

I agree that ad is annoying, but that's the cost of keeping the forums free, and updating the servers when needed.

If anyone is wealthy and wants to buy tFS, get rid of the ads and maintain and upgrade the forums as needed at your own expense, please step forward!

There's an H&M overlay/floating ad thing which greys out the entire screen and doesn't seem to have close button, it doesn't close when the video ends either, so you have to refresh the page to make it go away. You should be able to close it, at least at the end right?

^the close button is in the top right corner, it doesn't appear until you mouse over it, then it becomes a slightly darker color so you can tell it's there at least.

The ads on fashionspot are getting increasingly obnoxious. Audio pop-up ads on every thread page is making visiting this forum intolerable..

I am moving this post out of the tech issues thread, since it's not something that is a technical glich. See the thread title on the Tech Issue thread which directs members to this thread if they wish to "vent".

I don't like those ads either, so I keep my sound off when I'm here.

We are owned by a e-media advertising company (have been for about 3 1/2 years now). And that is what they do ... sell all kinds of ads to place on tFS and all of the other forums they own. Not much we can do about it ... it won't change as long as they are our owners ... and they pay the bills that allow us to exist.

But you are welcome to vent here.

My beef is so much about the existence of the adverts - I get it that they need the revenue - but the way they are implemented. The pop-ups often block drop-down menus in such a way that is is literally impossible to get to some of the items in the menus. And the roll-overs sit directly underneath the quick links tab, so when you scroll up or down to get to the tab you can't help but activate it. Moreover, there is no limit on how many times you can activate per page view. Good roll-overs should stop when they have been activated a certain number of times, and only reset when you move to another page. (I really don't know how many more times I can watch the blue furry thing before I start screaming.) This kind of poor implementation detracts from the experience of the site and ultimately just turns people off - from the ads and the site.

Wow I feel really sorry for you guys, that must be annoying as hell browsing tFS like that. I've never gotten any video or roll-over ads on tFs. Do I have a really good ad-blocker or does that have to do with where one lives? I only get two banner ads per page, luckily.
