I just have a quick question. When i post up a picture of something, I know i'm suppose to credit it. But who do I credit it to?

Because most of the pictures I will be posting up is from my own blog, which is further taken from other people's blogs, which is taken from other people's blog or google images etc etc.. there's really no end to it and I won't have a way of knowing where it originally came from. Unless of course it's something well known and it's obvious it's a branded ad campaign.

Good question, Model Wear. In a nutshell ... you must credit your "original source" .... where you got it in the first place. And ... if you do not remember, you may NOT post it at all.

Flashbang already sent you a Personal Message about this, but I think it's important enough that all newbies who have blogs should learn this, so I'll go over it again, for them:

Paraphrasing Flashbang's PM to you, and adding a few extra things:

Quote:
Regarding Crediting your Own Blog or Site ... Not Allowed

Yes, it's very important to credit your source of any pictures/articles that you post. However, you may not credit your own site, blog, social media account ... anything that is owned and or operated by you. We consider it "self promotion" which is not allowed on tFS

So, then, how do you credit pictures and articles that you have on your site, and want to post here, too?

If you have pictures that are relevant to the topic of the thread that you shot yourself, then simply credit yourself as a credit. For example: "Picture(s) taken by me", "Shot by me". If it's an article you wrote ... you would just say "Written by Me".

For photos or articles that you got somewhere else, you simply credit the blog or site where you found the picture in the first place. You do not have to go back further than that ... just name your source. If you do not remember your original source, then you may not post the picture. (Hint ... keep records of your sources right in your own blog ... post the name of the site where you found it as a credit there, and then you'll always have it available for posting here later. It's the courteous thing to do, anyway.)

If it's a magazine that you scanned, you must say "Scanned by Me" and name the magazine and the issue (issue number, date) plus it's nice if you name the photographer, models, stylists, makeup, hair, etc.

There are two threads about this that everyone should read, with a few more details, posted in the Announcements Forum:

Self Promotion for your Blogs / Web Sites / E-zines / Stores, etc. Not Allowed.
Crediting Rules: posting the source/credits for an image, article or news story
How this helps clarify it a bit.

Hello there! Kind of embarrassing because I'm not new in the scene here but how do you post nowfashion photos on models pages? Because whenever I go on the nowfashion's website and try to get a pictures link, it won't let me. Please help!

This is more of a general question about how to capture photos, not how to navigate tFS. But I'll answer anyway.

It sounds like this site doesn't want you to take their photos. I suggest that you read their "Terms" to see if you are allowed to copy and repost their photos ... my guess is that it's not allowed.

I need to advise all members that under our Terms and Conditions, all members have agreed to get permission from the copyright holder before they reproduce anything in our forums.

A "Premium Account" or "Premier Account" is one that you pay for. It's $20 a year. There is a thread about this here: http://forums.thefashionspot.com/f44...hlight=premium and a thread about how to pay for it (paypal only), here:http://forums.thefashionspot.com/f44...hlight=premium

I really want to be updated of new posts on a thread I posted something on already. How do I do this? Or is it a feature request?

To subscribe to a single thread, go to Thread Tools in the upper right part of your screen, click subscribe to thread, and choose the desired options.

To change global subscription settings, go to User CP > Settings & Options > Edit Options > Messaging & Notification > Default Thread Subscripton Mode. Here you can set up how you want to be notified for all threads you post in.

POST EDIT function not showing - how to enable?
Hi ,

I don't have the EDIT function on a post and I wanted to change the images as I hot-linked them - before finding out that it was not recommended due to draining bandwidth on hosts site.

I would like to replace the images with imgbox.com images instead.

OR - How to I contact the moderator or administrator to ask them to allow the EDIT?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Mamiji

you have approx. 10 minutes to edit your post. after that the function disappears. this is done to preserve continuity on the website.

if your posts now show a dead link/blank image we may be able to remove the post.use the "report post" feature.

this is actually really helpful! Thank you so much! I can't wait to explore the whole site. I've noticed the fashion spot is a super huge archive for fashion campaigns, editorials, and models.

I'm an artist, animator and occasional model and I spent my early (and late teens) wandering around on anime forums instead of discovering fashion, so I'm sure there's a whole wide fashion world unknown to me just ready to be discovered. (But I guess I'm still pretty familiar with the whole forum concept)

Also I'm just a tiny teeny bit disappointed that there are no images allowed on signatures!

Less visual clutter which we like to keep to a minimum, so that the photos of the collections, etc. take center stage. We are here for fashion, first and foremost.

You still have an avatar and you may add an image to your profile ... but that only show's when someone actually looks at your profile. Of course, the more your participate in the discussions, the more likely someone will pop in to see who you are and what you are all about.

Regarding Sending Messages to other Members:

There are two different types of messages. Learn the difference:

- "Private Messages/PMs" can be sent from your own UserCP if you know their user name ... or from the drop down menu from their User Name in any one of their posts ... or from their Member Profile. This will be seen only by the member to whom you sent it. It allows them to respond easily, just like posting in a thread.

- "Visitor Messages" may be posted on the other member's profile. Be aware that, "Visitor Messages" go on their profile and can be seen by everyone. Also, the other member cannot respond directly to you from that posted message.

Tips:

If you want to have a response back, it's easier for them and best to use a Private Message ... not a Visitor Message. Also, If you do not want to make your comment public, be sure to use a "Private Message / PM".

Whenever you have a question or a problem and wish to contact a Moderator, do not post Visitor Messages. This sort of thing should be confidential. Use a PM or, if it's a rules violation in a thread, use the "Report Post" feature, and that will be sent to all the moderators assigned to that particular forum.
