GO TO A DERMATOLOGIST! IT'S THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR SKIN! Sorry about the caps, but the dermatologist knows the best. Don't ever take advice from a beauty therapist!

If you have loads of whiteheads on your forehead then yeah go to a dermatologist. But it doesnt look like whiteheads in that picture to me. Just looks like little tiny bumps. Whiteheads are usually a bit bigger and redder due to the inflammation.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I'll just have to pluck up some courage and go to a dermatologist. What do you think he/she would do? I'm kinda nervous

he might prescribe you a cream, your skin/Keira's doesn't look that bad so I suppose a cream would be enough.
My derm prescribed me an antibioticum (which helped a lot on my back!), a cream (helped at the beginning, now I feel like I'm immune )and soon I'll take a birth control. |

Vitamin A is believed to be strongly connected to preventing acne, individuals with severe acne have been shown to quite frequently have low Vitamin A levels.Vitamin A can be obtained naturally through such food sources as turnip greens, beets, carrots and spinach as well as various fruits including apricots, mangoes, raspberries and oranges. Carrots contain the most Vitamin A, coming in at a whopping 12,000 mcg.

I visited a dermatologist today. My acne is no more severe, it is mild and that is why she recommends the treatment to be:
-tetracyclin to be started in the Fall if needed -cream called Dalacyn for the pimples -visiting a cosmetologist sometimes -keeping my usual routine of cleaning and moisturizing I also asked her about diet changes. She said it definetily does cause your skin to get more pimples if your diet is only McDonalds food and chocolate, but other than that she wouldn't recommend anything special. She also told that cutting off dairy does not help. Yes, it is true that there are hormones in milk, but in order for it to have any effect on one's skin one should drink litres of milk a day. Thus the "no dairy clears your skin" is just a myth.

I read past pages of this thread and people that used Differin have had a not-so-satisfying experience with it. I use it and while it hasn't really given me MORE acne, it's also not making the acne go down. It's really just keeping my skin neutral, I guess. I've been using it for almost a year now and I'm getting tired of it. Should I go back to the derm and ask for something stronger?

Does anybody use Perricone products for Acne care? If so, can you share your experience? I am thinking of trying them, but I don't know what to buy: cleanser, moisturizer, toner???
Now I use Clinique products, but they don't work well on me.

From my experience, actual products targeted to acne are never going to work. I suggest having a mild regime of cleansing milk-toner-moisturizer targeted to your skintype.

I never did have problems at all with acne during my teens when you're like supposed to have acne, but lately (the last 1-2 years) I've had problems. Allright, it's not like it ruins my face, I don't have "craters" and it's usually no more than 3-4 areas at a time (thank god), small spots that I can easily cover with a cover stick if I feel concious about it.
Went to see a dermatologist who put me on antibiotics for 2 months, it more or less didn't improve things at all. I went back and he gave me stronger antibiotics which I'm now using since some weeks. If this latest treatment won't get rid of the problem, there is final resort, the notorious Rocutane (Accutane). Quote:

^ If it is any help, I can say that many women neglect their skin too. What is a good thing about having acne is that it teaches you how to take care of your skin, and thus you have better skin for longer. Many women who have no problems with their skin can get into their twenties without no regime or without knowing about the importance of taking care of your skin. Then the problems start to surface, as a result of not taking care of your skin for so many years.
Remember, skin is your largest organ. Without skin you will die, skin is a vital part of you. It contains most of the water in your body and is a big part of your immune system. So do take care of it, don't wait for the problems to appear to take action.
