orange juice is REALLY bad for your skin. i broke out about a month ago from it and talked about it here.

theres way too much acid in it and it messes your skin. I mean it takes about 5 oranges, to make one cup of orange juice.

ironically i drank like 3 cups a day thinking it will do great things to my body.

apologies in advance, i haven't read this thread but my personal experience (this is after having acne for a decade and FINALLY *praise jesus* outgrew it)

the only thing that really worked for me was dianette bcp or US has yasmin which i think is similar. and retin a for cysts and nothin much prevents blackheads, i still have them but theyre tolerable.

dont rely on derms, my derm put me on countless antibiotics (which are BAD for you) until i'd develop a tolerance then swap out, finally he resorted to a low dose of accutane that only worked a year and wasn't worth all the god awful side effects.

these kinds of threads are great b/c they encourage you to research for yourself, cheers

audreyhorne, did you GROW OUT of your acne or did it go away because of the BCP? Are you still on them?

Anyone have a remedy for underground pimples? I have one and it hurts so bad, but I want to go away fast. I use sylic-acid and benzoyl peroxide on it. Is that enough?

I'm using Molton Brown skinfresh facial wash at the moment and I think it's making a good difference Pricey, but worth it

try using hot compresses... usually that helps bring it to the surface! after that its easier to drain/heal

I used to have a really bad acne problem in my early to mid-teens. I tried everything possible to get rid of it, but nothing seemed to work. I tried covering it by growing out my bangs, and that's probably not a good idea because my skin needed to breathe. However, I think I grew out of that bad acne phase. However, I use neutrogena sylic-acid products for the little pimples that pop up occasionally. They work pretty well!

www.skintactix.com. im telling you, miraculous stuff, whenever i have a stubborn bout of acne, i run to that stuff

ive noticed that taking BCP exaserbated (sp?) my then almost non existand acne to something severe enough to treat...

ive noticed that my skin is WAY different now at 24 than it was at 18....its alot drier, alot more sensitive, and i notice im ALOT more white head prone.... i dont have blackheads....

do you think microdermabrasion would help with the whiteheads, which in turn become acne? My husband knows a derm in the area who will do 5-6 treatments for like $250-300

I also want to get the micro because i do have some indentations on my cheeks closest to the nose from my cystic acne from when i was 18... oh the scars of youth....anywho, will micro help with the slight scarring???

If you live in the states, try going to walgreens and they sell a small tub of glycolic acid for 5 bucks and it works wonders.

And for acne, I would advise people to use rose water for cleansing after washing your face and simply any retinol cream, from tazorac to retin-a or some retinol cream purchased from vitamin shoppe or gnc

Hi all.. I have stateosystoma multiplex. It's a mouthful to say but basically they are huge cysts that form under your skin and stay under your skin until they are ready to come out. I've had a lot for years and they are so annoying.

I've found that using castor oil works wonders. If one of my cysts gets inflamed, I put castor oil on a cotton ball and put it right on the cyst and tape it down with masking tape. Keep it on all day and then do it everyday until it pops on its own or a head forms. Seriously I do it and after 3 days or so if I just touch it lightly, it will drain. Ew that sounds gross.. but thought I would try to help others out with cysts (pimples under the skin).

I've had acne prone skin since I was a teen.. oily skin sucks sometimes. I was also on tons of antibiotics and prescription skin cremes but now I have found the best remedy is to not use much on my face except Eucerin and MAC blush, and sometimes aloe vera. Also getting a lot of sleep helps keep my skin clear.. if I get 6 hours or less, I start breaking out like crazy!

i would recommend NOT to eat chocolate. i usually don't have problems with my skin (it's normal and even dry in the winter while t-zone is oilier than the rest of my face). but lately i've started eat chocolate and now acnes are literally all over my mouth.
it's a good thing i've been through this before and know that after i don't eat chocolate for a week acnes will be gone.

I've always had problems with my skin, with ups and downs, but now it's horrible-again. I've tried EVERYTHING, from salycilic/glycolic acid, masks, tonners, homeopathy to some medical treatments.
Things got better when I started with regular facials and BeautyTek treatments, but that's not enough. It seems I have some huge hormonal problems (and that's why it seems I'm hopeless case). So, I'm starting with craniosacral therapy tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed!
