I have fairly light hair and dark eyebrows, and I actually think it's a cool combo!
As far as coloring your brows:
I used to color them really dark when I had dark brown/reddish hair, and I used an eyebrow pencil! I think that works the best if your brows aren't that thick (thick in the sense that the hairs grow really, really close).
You can get it done at the hairdressers and it's lasts pretty long, but when I got it done, my brows looked like small snailes because they aren't that "thick" but quite broad, if you get the picture?!
Home coloring gives okay results, but it doesn't last long, at least mine didn't, and it can go wrong!

Wow, that was long, but I hope it helps!

I like brow powder and a good stiff brush more than a pencil. I like to keep my brows barely a shade lighter.

I have dark brown hair with thick one inch blond chunks in it. I used to (not anymore just for lack of time) lighten my brows.
You basically just mix peroxide and lightening powder and leave on for like 5 minutes- but WATCH it! you dont wanna end up with white eyebrows.

It looks very natural- and you dont want your brows too light either.

i dye my eyebrows every 3 weeks with a light brown hairdye since mine are black.
it always turns out perfect and natural looking.
i use lots of q tips for even application, and always wear mini swim goggles to make sure none of it gets in my eyes.

its cheap and effective

just pick a color thats around two shades lighter than your haircolor, unless you are a blonde.

I have been there done that so take my advice.

You will be hard pushed to find a salon to lighten brows though they will happily darken them. I looked everywhere and as I live in London you would think there would be scope for every beauty treatment under the sun... but nope.

If you eyebrow hair is light enough so that putting a lighter dye on will lighten it -good -that is the easy version. If you are caucasian (and I am taking that you are) -this should be the case. Caucasian hair is different to for example asian hair in that it accepts dye more easily.

As I am of Pakistani origin, I have very very black hair and dye it dark brown. I like my eyebrows to match but lightening my hair requires bleach of some sort because putting lighter dye on the top does nothing. So what I do is this:

a) Mix up bleach (jolen -I am not sure if you can get it in the states but it is a cream bleach designed for lightening facial, arm hair etc). As it is a cream it does not drip but pay attention anyhow. The base tones of very very dark hair are red therefore the bleach does leave my eyebrows too light and with an orange tint.
To cover the orange, I use a light permanent vegatable dye over the top and I end up with brown eyebrows to match my brown hair. This is the crucial step because for a while I just dealt with lighter but orange brows and one should not have to compromise when it comes to beauty

The eyebrow regrowth as someone said isn't wierd. If you look really close, there are dark and light hairs and eventually the dark ones outnumber the light ones by a greater and greater degree. Completely natural

Hope that helped
Love Sienna

I've had my eyebrows dyed at a beautysalon ones..and THAT was one time too many..I'm not sure what she was thinking...I'm a blonde, and she gave me two jet black snails instead of slightly tinted eyebrows ..luckily the salon was just around the corner from my house..so I basically ran home..and tried to scrub it away (to no avail ofcourse), and used every harse product for days I could think of to make it lighter..

Now I dye my eyebrows on my own...its so much easier because you dont have to explain how dark/light you want your colour and I've never had to used swimming goggles..because the product its a very thick gelly consistancy.

Only thing I'll have professionally done with regard to my eyebrows is reshaping now and again..because I'm lazy and don't do proper upkeeping with regard to they shape. I allways bring pictures of the shape I want..because the easiest way to change your look is to mess even the slightest with the shape of your eyebrows.

I usually have my eye brows tinted whenever I go dye my hair. Even when we touch up the roots I ask for them to do my eye brows.

They usually apply it the last 5 minutes or so that the colour is in the hair so that your eyebrows aren't *too* light. My salon does a great job and I get my roots done often enough that my eye brows aren't two shades of colour.

I love my hair dresser!

My hair and eyebrows are naturally black, so when I dye my hair brown, I get my stylist to do my eyebrows too. I think it looks SOO much better when my eyebrows match my haircolor...when brows are much darker than your hair it looks really nasty. Like Elisha Cuthbert on 24...her eyebrows are dark dark brown and her hair is light blonde, and I think it looks horrible. Maybe it's a personal thing.

i have had my brows and lashes done in a salon a coupple of times, and i've also dyed them at home, also lashes, and i'm not blind yet. you just have to buy a product that is meant for brows and lashes, definetely not haircolour.

I've been doing it myself with regular haircolor for a few years now. When I had it done at a salon my eyebrows ended up nearly black which looked horrible with my light blond hair!

Thanks for the tips about professional brow dye everyone...I'll have to check that out.

I dye my eyebrows and lashes myself with a kit that I buy down the drugstore. Its easy, no disasters at all - although if you are in the United States, I believe that eyebrow /lash tinting is illegal.
