I have to admit I actually like some of Bebe's stuff
But from reading the forum it seems as if a lot of people really hate it.

Why is it considered so trashy? Do you think it's mainly just junk/low-grade stuff?

For me, I never completely write off any label. I don't wear any bebe because there are no stores near me but I am not horribly opposed to them. Some of their stuff is low quality and a bit junky looking or cheap. But it's about how you style it. I'm sure that you could definately find things there and make it your own. There's nothing wrong with that. Either way, if you like it, thats what counts

pretty much. if i see something nice from them (don't know if i in fact have), i don't know it's bebe. but when i see some girl in velour sweatpatns that say "bebe" in glitter across her *** - i know it's bebe.

Where I live, Bebe advertises at bus stops. The ad posters always feature scantily-clad, suggestively posed female models wearing a lot of makeup. I would say they promote the trashy image themselves.

A few weeks ago, I went to a mall in St. Louis with my cousin to help her get something to wear for dinner that night. We only had an hour, and we ended up going into Bebe. Most of it was very A/X-ish in my mind (trying to look "fancy" or "expensive," but doing so very cheaply and distastefully). But thankfully, there wasn't nearly the amount of logo-plastered stuff I had imagined. I guess that's just what people tend to buy from there, which says something about their typical customers. Anyhow, she found a dress that looked very good on her. However...while a woman wrapped it as we were being rung up, I noticed a large snag in the weave! So what does the woman do? She puts it back on its hanger and puts it back where we found it so someone else could buy it! Horrible. She got a second one that looked okay, so we bought it. But when we got back home and she put it on, there was a snag in another spot! My cousin didn't notice, though...so I just kept my mouth shut.

BTW, I saw a bunch of other damaged stuff while browsing around. If you buy anything from the store, really give it a close inspection first.

they always have been more trashy than not.

however, i think theyve been trying to change that, and they recentlly got a new head designer, i forgot his name, but it is someone with a name.

I've seen some very, very cute things at Bebe, but I think they are VERY overpriced for the quality they offer.

If I found something of the Bebe brand at a thrift-shop and liked it, I wouldn't be put off by the brand name, but I would never buy their stuff new. It tends to be made pretty flimsily, and I've seen a lot of just plain bad workmanship, like crooked seams, zippers put in off-center, so the teeth always show, and stuff just plain cut off grain.

If you choose to shop at Bebe, I'd encourage you to scrutinize each garment in your size and pick the one in the best condition. And when you try it on, make sure that there are no linings caught in a seam, seams that are coming open, straps about to break, or wobbly buttons. Because when I have tried on some of their stuff on a whim, this is exactly the kind of thing I found. I tried on this cute ultrasuede skirt, and could not figure why it would not lay flat on my hips until I looked at the back view of it in the mirror and discovered that the lining was tacked to a non-corresponding panel in the gored skirt. So in effect the skirt was permanently torqued to the left side, unless you went in and clipped those tacking threads.

There's no excuse for that.

I don't think it's trashy, but I guess your judgement of it would depend on your own style. I don't buy the clothing so I can't comment on it's quality, but it looks like less expensive nice-looking stuff to me. It's for the people that can't afford high-end designers or don't have access to them but still want that type of look.

i like some of the things in the store but ive never liked anything enough to buy it cause even though its a cheap store its still kinda expensive for what you get, the same stuff i can find at forever21 for the most part, alot of the items do look cheesy but sometimes they have a cute piece, and the winter coats are really luxurious looking, but the accessories always look tacky

Which high end designer makes clothes that have the sexy and kind of provocative style that Bebe has? I admit I kind of like the trashy look sometimes. A lot of high end clothes look kind of conservative though.

I am guessing Dolce & Gabanna and Cavalli are similar in style? Any others?

I think their jeans are gross. They have potential, but I hate wearing logos let alone ones that are in rhinestones stretched across my bum.

I have to admit that I do like some items by BEBE. I still can't believe their spokesmodel right now is mischa barton, she would be the last person I would have in mind. I can't imagine her wearing daisy duke length satin shorts with a halter top & peep toe stilletos, but then again I'd rock a potato sack if someone would pay me to.
