the henley is one of my fave garments on the planet earth...
truly androgynous...
it looks amazing on both men and on women...
currently, i have been asked to help two friends (both men) dress for their wedding in the connecticut countryside...
a henley is definitely going to be part of this equation...
can anyone suggest someone who does some beautiful men's henley shirts...???
preferably some really gorgeous, luxurious stuff with some interesting buttons and sumptuous fabric...
maybe with some interesting stitching, can be contrast colours, etc...
something quietly beautiful...
think...old italian man in the south of italy on a farm...
thanks in advance!

I'm not sure exactly what kind of henley shirts you are looking for.
but what came to mind is that I used to see at united arrows nice henley shirts from a label named "100% capri".
I think united arrows stopped carrying the label several years ago and that's why I haven't seen the shirts recently.
but apparently they are still available.
i think this is lovely stuff if you are by the ocean or beach...
since we will be in the new england countryside on a farm...
i feel like the stuff they wear has to be more rugged and not so delicate...
plus, that is just more their personalities...
i'm looking at brands like rag and bone, RRL, Margaret Howell, Freeman's...
they both wear stuff like rick owens dark shadow and slab for denim and martin margiela for suits...
one or both will probably wear a vest...
maybe both will wear hats...
it's like that...
little old italian man coming home from the fields and having a glass of wine in the piazza...
sort of crumpled and worn in looking stuff, i think...
any other ideas?... ...

i scouted it out a bit and the first brand that came to mind was ralph lauren but the more i thought about it, marc jacobs might be worth a look and also thome browne for two slim fitted nicely tailored options. also, this is a neat idea because its a cotton broadcloth henely.
softgrey I think I'm getting what you are thinking of.
though I cannot still imagine what it's exactly like because culturally you would hardly see anyone wearing a henley shirt for wedding over here.
but how about suzuki takayuki ?
it's very true what you say runner...
it's not the thing one would traditionally wear for a wedding...
but it's not a traditional wedding exactly...
and it's two men!...
the challenge is to find something nice enough to feel like it's an important event...
but also soft enough to make sense on a sunday afternoon in the springtime...
in the countryside...
i LOVE that suzuki takayuki image really...~
it's very much what i was thinking of...
we even checked out some paul harnden tailor stuff...!!!...
but it all began to feel like it just wasn't 'dressy' enough for such an event...
(which is probably why you had a hard time imagining it...!!!......)
so now it is somewhere in the middle...
maybe one will wear a pale off white cotton suit...
and the other will wear a pale grey suit with some sort of vest?...
and maybe with some simple dark grey or dark brown leather accessories...
for contrast...
maybe with a thin henley and possibly a vest on one...
no ties...
so it's relaxed and elegant, but also really soft and special...
i also thought about kristensen du nord ...
but i'm just not sure where i can find the stuff in a store in nyc......
have to do some more research i guess...
thanks for all this help!
it's really fun and exciting...!!!...

OMG...
i just looked at the link you posted runner... ...
the detail shot of the henley is AMAZING...
the buttons alone make me melt!... ...
wow...that is an amazing thing...
SO beautiful...
thank you so much for sharing ...
even if i can't end up using it for the wedding, i am SO happy to have seen it...
going to have to save those pics for myself...

ahh I thought it was a kind of joint wedding for two couples at a time, but now I see.
don't you have an issey miyake store over there ? they sometimes make ones that are elegant and soft.
