Home/Apartment Furnishing Shopping
I searched for a similar topic but couldn't find one. If one exists, I'm sorry, and please merge.

I'm just about to move out onto my own in a brand new apartment in Brooklyn, NY. I can't wait! This'll be my first apartment and so I'm really eager to do some shopping for it. The only problem is, I'm kind of clueless where to start, besides IKEA.

What are some good online (or offline) stores for home furnishings? I'm looking for wardrobes, functional storage, outdoor stuff (like lanterns, candles, outdoor chairs/table, etc), kitchen stuff, bathroom stuff, etc.

Here's one cool site that I know of:
http://www.uncommongoods.com/

Please share any others that you know of!

If you appreciate modern/contemporary design, try Design within Reach: http://www.dwr.com/

I have gotten some great vintage (Deco) furniture on eBay. Even with shipping, the prices can be better than buying from a local dealer who's taken a significant markup. Antique malls are good too ...
