the most i've ever spent on myself was about $120 canadian on jeans when i lost 20 lbs over the summer and had to get a new pair.

i'm a student so i usually just shop at outlets or inexpensive stores.
having said this i must admit that my husband, my mom, and my inlaws buy me all kinds of expensive stuff ...

found the thread - http://www.thefashionspot.com/forums...ead.php?t=9350

wasn't too hard, i'd remembered I posted in it, and since I don't post that much, it wasn't that much to look through

(btw, a board search w/ terms 'expensive purchase' returns it on the 1st results page)

searching's not that hard, esp. if you just put a wee bit of thought into it.

(ps) that last bit is *not* directed @ mods .. poor things have a lot to deal with lately it seems.

I feel guilty..
Im a complete shopaholic and I rarely ever wait for sales.

For me the most pricy item was probably my Dior suit
(blazer and matching trousers)

$2200 together.
Although I do get A ton of wear out of it.

Great cut, but for that price the tailoring could be better.

LOL yeah i think that's the suit I got as well.

What are you talking about BTW, the tailoring is superb

If I ever became a rapper I'd make sure to fit in a line that says "I rock Dior Homme denim..."

Well, I'm definitely setting my record with roughly $425 on some Ann Demeulemeester boots.

My husband on the other hand, who is also interested in fashion, earns well and feels guilt-free when it comes to spending money on designer items.
He coherced me into getting my first designer pieces (..the guilt of spending so much of his, now our money, has after the first 2 pieces become less acute..but it's still there) so I never splash out on expensive designer pieces without hearing what he thinks of it first.

When buying a designer skirt I can't help but think what we could have done with the money instead
Go on a luxurious getaway weekend etc ...when we get to be 80..I hardly think we'll be discussing that fab dress I bought..but rather our adventures together.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that some are so economically secure that they can splash on designer items like others splash on grocery items...I think we all dream of that...but IMO if your cashflow does have limits, being a slave to expensive fashion labels to such an extend that only that will do and other areas of your life suffers from a lacking cashflow is just sad.
elegantly said!

Hahaha, yes I've definitely dropped way way way way more than I should have on clothes. I'm trying to move away from the materialistic things and spend money on traveling. Spending $300 on a shirt instead of a plane ticket to europe is just crazy when you really think about it.

In terms of prices... I've spent $1500 on a Dior coat (on sale!), a little over $1000 on a prada cashmere overcoat (on sale), and of course Dior jeans are all a few hundred (4 pairs).

I counted up the price of my wardrobe, and I could have bought a $25,000-27,000 car instead of clothing myself. That really puts it into perspective.

I've already promised myself that when I get my tax return, I'm going traveling with it instead of buying clothes (well, at least not THAT much clothes hahaha). I gotta stick to it!!!

Hi Albert,

We are definitely in the same boat here... I did add up my calculation what I have spent in the past 1 year in excel(yeah I am a control freak!) and it added up like $5K... soooooooooo crazy...

but I have a different mentality with the way money spent.. I do agree that it sounds crazy when you add up all the values together.. but my perspective is that I would rather spend $300 on a cloth that will last me at least a year... whereas a $300 air-ticket is only a one time thing and for 12 hours max not as longer lasting I would say!!!LO

BUT yes.. so much nicer to travel than to have all the clothes in your wardrobe.. and it will just become a drag when you have to move...
